If you book through Expedia do not purchase Expedia's collision waver. Alamo (Costa Rica) does not exept their coverage and offers their own! A little bit of lack of communication between the two parties.

We rented by getting the quote on line through Price Line while in the U.S. But they included no cost for insurance and that is the most (unreal!) part about renting. But we had excellent service from beginning to end and extending our 5 day to 6 with just a phone call. We were going to Monteverde and they recommended an upgrade because the roads are very rough and we were most grateful for that advise. We used the Garmin all the time and they even programmed it for us from the places we were planning on going to the places we were planning to go. Without that guidance system we would have been lost most of the time since the roads where we were traveling didn't have much in the way of road signage.

Avoid frustration, you will pay additional cost for liability insurance. Have written proof of collision coverage if you have it. Check prices and you will have a good experience renting in Costa Rica. Alamo staff were very helpful and engaging.

Waited over two hours to find out that they didn't have the car we had a reservation for. Horrible experience! If you want to spend your whole vacation waiting for your rental car go with Alamo. Otherwise anyone else would have to be better!

Booked a car that was not really as described. Staff weren't overly helpful to rectify the issues. Not massively easy to find until you find the signs. There is a shuttle bus from the airport that has WiFi
