The best hostel we have stayed. The private room are large with tvs and own bathroom. Bar is small with friendly staff. We had a couple of late nights at the bar. Food is fantastic we ate breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hostel. Supermarket is a 20 minute walk. There are a number of bars walking distance from hostel on the street 19. Center City and beach is a 30 minute walk or $1 US bus ride. During the day a taxi to Beach or City is 6,000 peso and at night is 7,000 peso. We look forward to our next visit to Santa Marta. Facially are tv room, bar, 24 hours reception, hammocks, restaurant, public computers, pool table and I can forgot the pool.

Amazing facilities, although they are showing their age. Party hostel. No quiet hours or enforcement of. The people in my room were in and out of the bathroom 50 times throughout the evening doing coke. If you want rest, this is not the place.

The Drop Bear Hostel has a very relaxing vibe. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We stayed in a private room which was even bigger than our own apartment! Because there was a extra room between the bedroom and the hallway next to the bar and swimming pool we didn’t hear any partying.

Clean rooms, nice pool and social area, decent food and decent priced at the resturant. It is a fair way from the old town so you will need a taxi to reach anywhere else. Lots of tour info and helpful staff.

Great hostel. I had a double room and it felt like a hotel room. There is a good atmosphere and always people around the pool and bar keen for a drink

In a city regarded as a connecting point between several attractions this is a really nice hostel to spend a few nights. The pool, Netflix, and common areas are a perfect escape from the - sometimes - uncomfortable travel lifestyle. The kitchen serves delicious food, not commonly found in Colombia & the staff and bar volunteers are friendly.

However, because of its location within the city (although most parts are easily accessible by cheap taxi) & for its pricing i wouldn't regard it as a 5/5 hostel.

Amazing experience with the guys today on the minca motorcycle day tour. The bikes are great and well maintained. the guide is awesome always showing us amazing places. Defiantly worth the money. Give them a message on Facebook or WhatsApp and book the tours now as they fill up fast. The hostel looks great too.

Really good hostel. Some of the staff is not very helpful, while others are really helpful. Good food. Swimming pool, bar, terrass, hammocks, ping-pong table, pool table, tv-room with Netflix. If you sleep in the hammocks be aware of the music playing until really late.

We had a great stay at Drop Bear during a two-day, one night visit to Santa Marta. It's not right downtown but it's easy to get to and is in a nice neighborhood.
Wifi was good. Bed was comfortable. The community and other people staying here really made it a great time.
It's easy to plan trips throughout the Sierra Nevada region from here.

I was in Columbia for 19 days and this was definitely one of my favorite hostels. The staff were very helpful and friendly. As far as Santa Marta goes this one is definitely out of the way but you don't come to Santa Marta to hang out there. I can't say enough about how awesome the staff was, who would politely kick me out of the bar every night because I was always the last one to leave. Place is in an old drug cartel mansion with a swimming pool and is very big and spacious with a huge game/tv room and a big deck with about 15 hammocks to relax and read. Highly recommend this place!!!
