Large rooms and beautiful views right next to the pearl tower. Best of all, the service is attentive and second to none.

Received a free upgrade when I arrived. Rooms were incredible! The Pool/Jacuzzi/Gym/Sauna were all great. The lobby/restaurants are on the 52nd floor and the views were incredible (we were lucky it was a very clear morning). Will definitely come back !

DO NOT GO TO THE BARS IN THERE!!!!!!!!!! The worst experience from 5-star hotels ever!! The so-called Live Jazz bar plays nothing remotely close to Jazz, and the singer was even fighting with the pianist. We ordered pricey drinks that were supposed to come with some salmon and fries.never cameAfter we paid, we saw that the food was charged separately, so told the waitress about it. SHE BROUGHT THE COLD FRIES.We said that we were finished and have to go..She asked if we want to take away THE COLD FOOD:( No apologies, no refund.THE WORST EVER!

BEST hotel experience in China by far. I have been living in China for over a year now, and my parents decided that they would come visit me. I was hoping their overall time in China would be a good one, and they were just blown away by the excellent service at the Ritz in Shanghai Pudong area. I find that in general it's difficult to find a good "Western" hotel in China, as sometimes the things you would prefer or need aren't available. Also I find that when staying at a Western hotel, sometimes requests are either not understood or misunderstood due to the language barrier. Or it doesn't seem like the staff enjoy their job, making you feel rushed to get out of the restaurant because they're closing, or just unwilling to accommodate small requests. However, this was not the case. The staff were extremely knowledgeable, approachable and easy to talk to. The staff went above and beyond what I expected for a Western hotel in China. Their English was amazing, and my family and I got to know some of them quite well! We had Kathy, who always welcomed us at breakfast and made us feel like part of the family. My mom was in tears when we had to say bye to Kathy because of how kind she was to us throughout our whole stay. She really made us feel like part of her family. Rick was one of the very friendly breakfast chefs who made us some special Shanghai foods, just for us (all of it was delicious). He made us feel quite special! There was Crystal at the lobby lounge who served us drinks the one evening, who had a great, bubbly personality. She spoke to us a bit of her background and helped my parents understand more of the Chinese culture. Even though she didn't serve us the next evening, she still recognized us and stopped by to say hello. There was also Jasmine at dinner in the Scena restaurant, who, when we returned for dinner on our second night, was able to recall the wine my dad had ordered the previous night without consulting any notes. She had also remembered that we preferred sparkling water, rather than flat. She did all these small, but noticeable tasks on the fly, which made us admire her and appreciate her as she was really good at her job. My dad was particularly impressed with how she served the Prosecco. Delphin, the Sommelier, was also a very nice person, and Dempsy as well, who was part of the Concierge staff. From the front entrance to the room service, everything and everyone involved was spectacular. I've been to many hotels over China, both Chinese and foreign, and nothing has come close to the service we received at the Ritz-Carlton in Shanghai Pudong. You're paying quite a bit extra, but you're also receiving an amazing experience from it. I think it was totally worth it. It was nice to see my parents so happy, and it was nice to speak to all wonderful staff members! What a GREAT hotel.

Got a free upgrade to suite. The room was very spacious with all facilities I could imagine (and probably more - they even had a yoga mat) and were well maintained. The view was breathtaking. They switched on the light music in the evening which was a nice touch especially during a business trip. Staff were all very nice too.
The only minor thing I would pick was that their master switch at the bedside didn't really shut down everything So I had to walk across the whole room to close the curtains and turn off the lights

There's no doubt it's a very, very nice hotel. The rooms are very big and the marble and carpets and everything are luscious. But I don't feel like they 100% hit the luxury mark: a stain on the hallway carpet, an unmanaged gaggle waiting to get onto the rooftop bar on a Friday night, concierge who's friendly but didn't exactly go the promised extra mile to make my experience "unforgettable" as promised in booking emails. Also, frankly, it's kinda weird staying in a super new part of town where absolutely everything is in malls.

I stayed there a few days ago. Paid over $500 for one night certainly overpriced for what it is. But that's not my complaint. I left my belongings in the room while leaving for dinner because it should be safe there. When I came back I noticed my backpack had been rummaged through, specifically because I always leave the contents and zipper a certain way when traveling and it had been opened, contents shifted around, and zipper not in the position I left it in. Sure enough someone stole all my credit card information and tried to make transactions today. I called the hotel to report the incident - who knows if they'll actually investigate it or do anything to the employee that dropped off the extra pillows and provided turn down service. Really disappointing, I stay at Ritz Carltons all over the world and I can't believe this happened. You've lost a loyal customers. I pay a premium to stay at elite hotels to feel safe and get the best customer service and don't expect for employees to dig through my personal belongings and make illegal transactions with my debit/ credit cards. Shame on you, disgusting. Rest assure I wil be telling all my friends and everyone I can about this incident.
