The hostel owners are incredibly friendly, water (2RMB) and beer (4RMB for 0.6L) is inexpensive. Shower soap and shampoo are not provided, so remember to bring your own.

The owner is a great guy, he knows his stuff and is very friendly! Several shuttle options to see the Great Wall as well other attractions that make life simple. We saw the Great Wall at Mutianyu and it worked out great. Private rooms as well as dorm style. Our private room had air conditioning, shower, bathroom, and a queen size bed. The location is in the notoriously maze-like hutongs, but that puts you in a great location to see alot of Beijing. This place is listed as City Walls in the Mapfactor Navigator app for Android (saved my butt since I only had wifi). The commons room is a great place to meet fellow travelers and have a drink.

This place was awesome and better than we expected. The staff were very helpful, food was good, room was clean and lovely, cheap laundry service and anything else we needed. We felt very safe and at home here. The place was quite and comfortable. We really enjoyed our 3 night stay on our first trip to Beijing.

The Hostelworld reviews are on the money, this place is awesome.

The staff is friendly and gave quality local maps and guides. Rooms are clean and spacious, free fast wifi, free lockbox, and inexpensive bottled water, meals, and laundry too. Common area is dope and the other folks there were great to hang out with.

Location - it's right in the middle of a maze of authentic hutongs, which makes it a 13 minute walk from the nearest subway station. Overall the location is as good as it gets - within walking distance of Houhai (the lake surrounded by bars), the Forbidden City, and the Drum Tower.

Worth the extra euro or two versus other places, it's probably the best hostel in Beijing.

Staff is super friendly and helpful, will happily give you an overview of the city and go over your sightseeing plans with you so you can get the most out of your time in Beijing. Great location just north of the Forbidden City. It may be a bit hard to find at first, since it's on a back street (hutong) that taxis usually can't get to, so you'll have to walk the last couple blocks.

Single room is clean and comfortable, but a bit cramped - the twin bed takes up more than half the space. It's raised so you can at least store stuff underneath. Free Wifi, but I couldn't get it to work on my phone. Laundry is 1 yuan/kg, ready in 24 hours.

We had an amazing stay at 'Sitting on the City Wall's - we stayed in a double room. Room was all we needed incl. lamps in the bathroom that keep you warm when you get out of the shower. Winter and even spring in China can be cold so that is certainly nice for those early mornings. The hostel also organised a trip for us to the Great wall of china. In fact an amazing hike of 4 hours with stunning views.

The courtyard in the hostel is a lovely place to eat, drink some nice tea or just hang out. For my kiddo (only 9) this hostel was his favourite place to stay during our trip throughout China and Japan :)) In the courtyard there is also a dartboard, a tv showing sports and just around the corner there is a playground where he socialised with some Chinese kids. In all just perfect !

We have stayed at this place twice with my wife during our one month trip to China, first for one week at the very beginning, and another time right before we left.

The simple fact that we've stayed twice should be a pretty good summary. Yes, it is good.

Located very close from the city center, right in the middle of the old, poorer parts of town, the hotel is at the back of a courtyard, with something like 12 rooms organized around a central court that is both the lobby, bar restaurant, internet place, etc.

If you're looking for meetups with travelers from anywhere, this is the place. The tenants are kind and efficient, and most of them speak decent english. The owner actually has a very good english.
