This airport is real oppressive. As soon as you get in you see how dirty it is. Signs everywhere saying "No pictures" "quiet. No talking" If you plan on staying more than one night at a hotel they want you to pay hundreds of dollars for a visa. If you overstay your one nighter, they remind you of the $5000 fine. Don't fall for the sharks who try to hook you up with a taxi. After a few minutes of the two eployees arguing with each other, the driver agreed to load our bags into the trunk. Our taxi was 500 yuan. Which was $100! The hotel was 15 to 20 minutes away from the airport and our driver was lost. He had no clue, taking us in circles and checking his phone GPS for almost two hours! UGH! Never again will I pass through China. Avoid Shanghai airlines. They use older Boeing 737 jets and their flights are packed like a can or sardines with dangerously overloaded carry on luggage compartments. Taiwan and Japan were excellent. China sucks!!!
Most beautiful airport of the world . It is wonderfully maintained. Facilities at excellent. This airport situated in Pudong mostly serves international flights . It is a hug for Air China , China Eastern Airlines. It is ought to be one of the busiest airports of world . This is world's third busiest cargo airport and ninth busiest passenger airport. It has connections to all part of the world .
THE WORST OF THE WORST. This place is full of security workers that are so unkind. This one lady started frowning at me for no certain reason. They treated me as if I was a freaking dog. I am never going back there again. If you guys have another airport that you guys can use, please do so. I would rather go to school than this mistreating airport. I also do understand that they want their country to be safe from the terrors that are currently happening around the world. However, there is a very big difference between trying to be safe from strangers and just treating somebody with no freaking respect. Never going back. Never.
This airport is great. Whenever I come here, I feel that is a location just like the neck of a jar. If you just arrive here, you should be excited that before you there is a big world unknown to you, full of tricks. Come and challenge yourself. If you are going to leave, this is just like a place you finally find a relief. No more quizzes and relax.
The facility of the airport is ok. If you want to make a transfer from plane to any high speed train, that will be very very painful. You need to take a shuttle to another airport.
Have transited through this airport several times throughout the years, and prefer it over Beijing. Signage is good - easy to access transfer and visa-free travel areas. The bathrooms aren't clean, which is surprising considering how many custodial staff there are.
I haven't been to a lot of airports but this is one of the worsts I've been to. Not all the staff can speak English which I think is a problem considering it's an international airport. Every time I seek help, I get ignored or at most, a shrug. It's also the first airport I've been to without an ATM; it's a bit inconvenient. We unfortunately had a layover here for more than 12 hours and their wifi at that time was down. No one seemed to fix it and when I asked about it on the counter, no one would talk to me. One good thing though is it's not that busy (at least those times I've been there).
Very quiet and big, not big huge! Some people can't understand you but its ok everthing was fine.
All facilities were easily accessible. I enjoyed my experience. Also the shopping was great.
My personal experience with this airport, unfortunately, miserable! Both inbound and outbound flight was delayed. Domestic lounge is heavily crowded. Not all water dispenser work properly. You will find cheap-lighters are chained in smoking zone. Next time while route planning I might try to avoid this airport eventually!
The building itself looks modernised on the outside but I found some places inside this airport still not fully renovated. Dun expect staff to help you here. They all seems cold and not welcoming. Lucky I was here for a short transit but if I have a choice, I will prefer airports elsewhere.
