The rooms were very clean, modern and comfortable. Our room had a view of downtown Beijing, and it was beautiful. I enjoyed their large selection of their buffet breakfast. The staff was very friendly. Being close to transit and shopping amenities really made the walk a lot easier.

Rooms were rather dated and could certainly do with an 'uplift'. The air conditioning unit in our room was uncontrollable, unfortunately, so we froze! stepping out into the corridor to defrost! The breakfasts were very good, with lots of choice available. The evening meal our tour group ate was quite acceptable - but why pour beer and soft drinks from original containers into jugs before pouring into glasses????? No fizz left!

This was the first hotel that we had the pleasure of staying in during our visit to China.
This is a very modern hotel in a very good location in the centre of downtown Beijing. The room itself was very large with a large double bed, TV and fully stocked minibar (which was free for the first usage). The bed was very comfortable and the TV was good too but there was a limited number of English language channels. The bathroom was excellent, it was very large and very clean with a free standing bath tub and walk-in shower (with a hand and rain shower), both of which had plenty of hot water and very good water pressure (the bath tub is very large too and you can lie down in it).
The hotel has a breakfast buffet, in the Jin Bao 99 restaurant which offered a wide range of international cuisine (Asian and Western) which was of very good quality. My one point is that this restaurant was not open 24 hours a day therefore, if you want to eat after breakfast you need to go to the lobby lounge or use the room service. The lack of an all day dining restaurant wasn't ideal.
My main concern is that considering this is a major 5 star hotel in the centre of Beijing there was a limited number of staff that can speak English to a competent level. Yes some people can speak English but it is limited and this can be a challenge but do not get me wrong it can be overcome.
All in all I thought this was a good hotel and I enjoyed the room, the breakfast and the food in the lobby lounge.response / report this review -

Excellent location, great pool and gym. AC allows heating only, although 20 oC outside. Temperature control by opening the window. Only one chair in the room, the 2.person has to sit on the bed.

Modern design and descent renovation with good restaurant and cafe. Next to Main Street so still a bit noisy even from high levels. Customer Services needs improvement - flat batteries in remote controller, impolite attitude towards kids, pushy house keeping service.
