Standard hostel with big comfy rooms and lovely views
Staff: very friendly and helpful with good English
Location : up a very big hill. It is a 20 minute walk downhill to the main square but we didn't even attempt it up. There are collectivo taxis that pass very near the hostel and only cost 400 per person. In my opinion it is worth it for the views.
Hostel: old converted blue house perched above a street (they need a sign as we couldn't find it at first, though I have now updated its location on Google maps). A few chairs outside to sit and enjoy the view. Communal area. Kitchen available though it is a bit rundown. There are only two bathrooms for the hostel (both have shower and a toilet). It isn't a big place but we imagine there would be a wait to use in the morning if it was full. Kitchen and bathrooms weren't the cleanest. Shower was good.
Room: double room was lovely. Nice and big, great views over the bay and the comfiest bed we've probably had in south America! I imagine it could get a bit cold in winter but there are of course extra blankets provided.
No breakfast provided per se but they do have a few nice jams you are free to use, as well as tea and coffee, so just buy some bread and you are good to go!
Overall a good place up on the hill - we'd give it 4.5/5response / report this review -

Stayed three nights. Host Alex was very helpful, gave us tips and cues about Valparaiso. Magnificent view on the bay and the city. Would come back anytime.

Un hostal à vous recommander lors de votre passage à Valparaiso. Accueil des plus chaleureux et d'une grande propreté. De plus la vue sur la baie est à couper le souffle.

Principalmente cabe destacar la vista asombrosa del lugar, sin dudas, la mejor de Valparaiso. La atencion y la energia del lugar son otra cosa totalmente recomendable, si te gusta pasar el tiempo relajado, tomando una cerveza con una vista hermosa a la noche, o a la tarde, sin dudas esta es el lugar.
Esta en una zona tranquila de Valpo, hay que subir un par de minutos pero vale la pena. La casa es hermosa y las habitaciones también, en muy buen estado.
Cuando vuelva a Valpo, sin dudas este es mi lugar.response / report this review -

Ok, so its a long steep walk up, but its totally worth it! - This hostel oozes quaint charm like no other place I've stayed. Stunning, simple and with the most friendly owners you can imagine. Its away from the noise and nightlife and has stunning views out to sea, particularly enjoyed with a drink in a chair in the meadow like gardens.
