Friendly helpful staff, great facilities
Really awesome relaxing hostel in a cool house that smells like the wood from a sauna! The staff were very friendly and it was extremely welcoming after a long hot day of travel. Close to the center of town and a really good value for the price
Casa azul is a really nice place in this beautiful town! EVERYONE was really nice and helpful (especially the volunteer!) There are two dogs (u will love sophia) and a nice garden! The breakfast, not included but not expensive, is huge(Good bread, porridge, eggs and pancakes) and will serve well for a hike afterwards. The rooms are simple, bathrooms clean and comfortable chillout places! Kitchen has all you need to cook (no oven)! I can really recommend this hostel, its like coming home!
Really nice and friendly (only the owner) hostel. Had the best breakfast there in my hole trip. BUT the french/Romanian volunteer is just a *** who thinks he owns the place. And is just a rude guy.. Said for the owner that this guy actually let me think to give this place a 1 star rating.
Rooms are bit small but very clean. Shared bathrooms are a good size. Shared kitchen is well equiped.
6 weeks in Chile, the best showers were here
It really is a blue house. And it's a really cool house. Lots of wood, tons of character. Very well managed and maintained. Friendly and helpful staff. Fast Wi-Fi. Desktop computer available for use.
I stayed two-nights in December 2016 in a four-bed dorm. Beds were very comfortable with plenty of extra space + personal lockers. Three full-sized bathrooms (read: full sized showers) on the second floor (best shower I've had in a month) (nice towels are included which is a huge plus).
Very large kitchen/dining room/lounge area. Though I did not participate, the available buffet breakfast looked great, convenient if you're in a hurry, and a good deal @ 3500CLP. There are several nearby markets if you prefer to make your own food, which is what I did. One note: the kitchen area is closed for cooking while the buffet is taking place, but there is a table available for use.
Overall a really good deal! Budget prices (for Chile at least) without losing any comfort or amenities. Highly recommended.
Rooms are expensive for what you get - old-looking bed sheets and paper-thin walls. The staff are OK, but left me to ask all the questions. The reception and eating area smell quite musty/old too.
This is a nice hostel run by a German guy with a comparable rate to other similar accommodations in the area (10,000 pesos for a dorm bed in February 2016). The rooms and bathrooms were pretty much as good as they could be (especially bathrooms, very clean and excellent shape), there was a computer available to use, and plenty of helpful info at the front desk about nearby tourism opportunities. The only downside to this hostel was that not only did they not offer a breakfast included, but they did not allow you to make your breakfast in the kitchen in the morning because they reserved the entire space for people paying for the hostel breakfast (3500 pesos) which looked pretty weak - some yogurt and toast and slices of ham. This hostel also has a really nice outdoor fenced-in area for hanging out and talking with other guests or just relaxing and reading. The vibe was quiet and respectful as well.
Great hostel. Stayed here two and a half months and can say that everything worked the whole time - heating, hot water, internet, wifi, gas in the kitchen - and everything was cleaned everyday.
What a wonderful hostel! And the proprietor, Roger (actual name is Andreas but he'll always be Roger to me!) is a gem of a guy and fabulous host. His zen garden with at least 60 Bonsai plants is simply amazing. Perfectly manicured and very relaxing. The enclose garden and yard is set up for total relaxation and socializing if that's what you wish for. The interior is beautifully maintained and clean (almost to a faultexample, spilled something on the bedroom floor and used a white tshirt to mop it up, anticipating throwing the tshirt away the next day because it would be so filthywoke in the morning, tshirt dry and not a spec of soil on it! This is absoutely true!!) We stayed for 3 nights and found it difficult to leave. Rates reasonable even for the private rooms, great kitchen facility if you're into cooking, great lounge room, large dining area (VERY CLEAN) with tons of movies and big screen tv. Quick walk to town but away from the fray and quiet location. Convenient to EVERYTHING! I only hope that one day I can return to visit Puerto Varas, but mostly Roger! A very funny and hospitable Host. We miss you Roger!
