Nice clean hotel. Room very simple, good value for the money. Breakfast buffet was nice. Receptionist was not very helpful with finding restaurant options. Convenient to get to train station, but very difficult to drive around the area (congested).

Had a very positive stay at this hotel. Based on my experience, the excelsior was ideal in terms of price, comfort, location and service.

As I arrived in Geneva early, I emailed in advance if I could leave my luggage with the hotel as check in wasn’t until 3pm. They answered within minutes and agreed. When I arrived at the hotel, the staff were very friendly and helpful and provided the Geneva travel pass (which allows you to use buses, trams and trains for free.)

In terms of location, it was ideally placed. About three minutes from Gare Corvain station and three minutes from the waterfront. There are plenty of bars, restaurants and shops close by, which is handy.

The room I was allocated was spotlessly clean! And more then adequate for myself as a solo traveller. The rooms were slightly hot, which other reviewers have commented on but I didn’t see it as a major issue. Does get a bit noisy in the evening both inside and outside but that’s just typical hotel noise in my view.

Breakfast catered for all. The croissants and jam in particular were lovely!

Given the cost of hotels in Geneva, I felt the price of the hotel and what I got was more then adequate. All in all, based on my own experience I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel!

The hotel is clean, well positioned in the city, helpful staff and good room. The only down was that the cleaning staff start early and are noisy. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Very friendly staff with every cleaner always smiling and greeting you. Nice and clean. Would have been nice to have ac rather than a fan though. Buffet breakfast is limited.

It was my first time at Geneva and I happy that we stayed at this very hotel. The service is very good, friendly guys at reception who always ready to help, to give a piece of advise, to recommend where to go. Breakfast is amazing. and one of the most important things is location: you can walk to many sightseeing's by foot.
    Thank you for great hospitality!

Great location. Very central and close to train and bus station. Had fourth floor room overlooking court yard and was very quiet. Breakfast self service but fair selection, chicken sausages, scrambled egg, Croissants and cold meats.

The Hotel Excelsior is in a really convenient location, only a couple of minutes’ walk from the main train station and within easy walking distance of Lake Geneva and the old town. There are very useful shops nearby, including a Manor department store across the road with a great food hall! The reception staff were very friendly and helpful.

The hotel looks like it has been refurbed recently – my room (a single) was very clean, a good size and had a nice bathroom. The only negative comments I would make would be that the furniture looked tired and the hotel was quite noisy, though only due to the other guests – not sure what the proprietors can do about that

Recommended as very good value in an excellent location.

(Warning fellow travellers: be very careful with your possessions in Geneva station and on trains to/from Geneva – I had my bag stolen on the train to Zurich the day after I stayed at the Excelsior – from the luggage rack immediately above my head!!!)

Very convenient hotel close to train station and many restaurants in Geneva. The upgraded lounge is very nice. I have stayed here many times in the past few years and appreciate the many upgrades.
Breakfast is more than adequate although the staff seems to have trouble keeping up with coffee needs. Individual pots of coffee and tea would be a nice addition. In years past, thes were provided.

Compact hotel 2 min walk from the waterfront and 5 mins from main train station. Direcrtly across from large dept store. So 5 stars for location. Room was spotless with crisp clean bed linen and a comfy bed. Staff polite and friendly. Good selection at breakfast that set you up for the day. Only negative was that all floors are tiled therefore late at night can be noisy. Would definately stay here again.

I was generally satisfied. However as an international business traveler, good WiFi is very important to me. Unfortunately the WiFi cut out frequently, to the point where I was unable to call home or get work done. The busiest night at the hotel the wifi was extremely unreliable, and wouldn't stay connected to any of my devices for more that a few minutes.

Another complaint, albeit less important, would be how easy it is to hear the next room. If your neighbor snores, it's easy to hear

Generally the location is very central, I was pleased with the service, and the breakfast was very nice to have given the meal prices in Geneva.

I've stayed in this hotel a number of times and I find its closeness to the rail station and buses very convenient. The check-in time is very late - 3 pm - when a lot of overseas flights arrive much earlier than that. I was told I could either wait or pay extra 5 ChFr per day to get into a room - a better one, on the quiet side. I paid. It was one of the really small basic rooms and I would have been totally fine with it - but the light was very dim, and there was no desk lamp (I had to rig my iPhone torch to see my notes when I was working!), and no outlets over the desk. Luckily I brought an extension cord. Unfortunately, I do not come to Geneva on holidays, but for work, and the desk light and outlet would have been very handy. The new addition over my last stay is a small fridge. Nice for keeping your water or yogurt - but its on and off noise is a bit hard on sleeping. Overall I prefer to have it though. Will I stay again? Yes, in fact, next month. Would I like my issues to be addressed?of course. The cleaning solution has a fairly strong smell too.
