We hired Smallworks February 2015 to build our laneway, after over a year they told us they submitted the drawings to the City for building permit. Continuously asking for updates, Smallworks repeatedly said that the drawings are with the City and that the delay is out of their control. In May 2017 we finally got in touch with the City engineer that was responsible for our permit application, and he told us that Smallworks never submitted the drawings for permit and that in fact they were closing our application. When we asked Smallworks to advise, they told us that they need more money before they can submit the drawings for review (I have few emails from them saying that the drawings were submitted). Now we are asking to pay ask back the $10k we paid for building permit, but they will not even respond to our calls.
Smallworks is dishonest.
Over 2 1/2 years and we have not heard from Smallworks why the design drawings were not submitted to the City.

Our project didn't work for Smallworks, because we asked for a different laneway ( not one of their templates) and they couldn't design something that the City could approve.
