Another fun project on my desk today; a 550 sq ft condo that will be transformed from a builder grade interior to a luxury boutique hotel-like get-away for our clients. . This is the design concept that will inform all the finishing and furnishing decisions. We use these concepts to keep us in track through the process to the original vision. (There are so many beautiful things out there it’s easy to get sidetracked!) . Not my usual pretty post, but I had to share as it is pretty amazing. (See what I did there! 😂) . The uber talented @mccaghrenchris has done a fabulous job of creating the top part of the reception desk for our #funky70soffice project out of raw steel. These colours and patterns are the result of the steel being sprayed with acid and then washed off. We literally watched it change before our eyes. (I don’t remember chemistry being this much fun!) Can you believe it?! I’m so glad he asked me to join him - we were like kids in a candy shop! 🍬 . Swipe to see Chris in action, and my stories for more closeups. . It’s official folks. I’m now legitimately in CPM (Christmas Panic Mode)! 😂 . I have seriously, no word of a lie, done absolutely zero to prepare for Christmas. And it’s a mere 3 weeks and 2 days away! 😱 . And to add to my panic, I realized that the recent additions to my living room mean the Christmas Tree has to be put somewhere else and I’m not sure where! How did I miss that? 🌲😂 . Ah well, I work better under pressure so I know it will all get done in the end. 🎄 . How about you? I enjoyed a lovely visit with the super talented textile designer @natalie_gerber in her studio today. . I completely adore all her textile patterns, so I had a difficult time choosing some for my own home, but I’m so happy with the ones I finally decided on. 🤗 . Did you know we also do garage planning? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Neither did we, 😂 but one of our long term, much loved clients asked for our help and we could not refuse! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ My past life as a professional organizer came to the fore for this one. It was a ton of fun figuring out this 3D jigsaw puzzle, creating innovative solutions and sourcing the best storage options for a plethora of tools, sports equipment, seasonal items, 3 sets of tires and 7 bikes! 😮 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Now in the construction phase under the expert oversight of @iknowaguyrenovations, I can’t wait to see our plans come to life. Finally had this sweet painting framed properly - it’s only taken me almost 20 years! 😜 . A gift from my parents when Graham and I moved from the UK to Canada, it had stayed in the exhibition frame that it came with. It was never right but it sufficed. 🤷🏻♀️ . I’m not so great at making impulse purchases for my home as I am more of a planner. But a whopping 83% of you voted ‘Yes’ in my stories yesterday to taking the risk with this crazy rug. Thank you for weighing in. 🙏🏻 . Well, I took your advice. I’m still in that ‘I love it but now I have to change everything to make it work’ phase. It’s an exciting day today in the design world as it’s reveal day for the @oneroomchallenge participants. 🙌🏻 . I didn’t take part this round, but here is my master suite I completed as part of the challenge in the spring. Recently I have found I’m inspired by images of moody interiors and think about experimenting with it in my own home. But there is something about a bright space that makes me so happy; my soul seems to be drawn to it like a moth to a light. 💫 . I’m not sure I can pull the trigger to go to the dark side! . Sometimes it makes sense to work with what you have until you can get what you really, really want. 😉 . Case in point, this kitchen that got a quick refresh over the summer months.
