Creekside Park is a multipurpose park at the foot of False Creek, a small inlet that skirts the southern side of downtown Vancouver. Located within the park is the Telus Science World and a ferry dock for the small transit ferries that regularly ply False Creek. The park contains a portion of the Seawall pedestrian and bike path that extends from Canada Place (on Burrard Inlet) along the perimiter of Stanley Park, English Bay, False Creek, to Granville Island and beyond to Vanier Point (Vancouver Museum, Pacific Space Centre). There is no beach as the majority of the park is raised above False Creek, either by the Seawall or on a wharf-like structure upon which Science World sits. Still, it is an extremely pleasant place to spend time, either for enjoying the view of downtown Vancouver with the mountains beyond or for people watching or for picnicking. Creekside Park is quite heavily used and is a safe and secure place for an outing. A note of caution: it is in an area close to the Downtown Eastside, (DTES), a place not inherently unsafe, but not a place you would want to be alone very late at night. Creekside Park is about six blocks from the DTES and is in a very upscale neighborhood, There is good transit within a city block of the main park entrance (at Terminal and Quebec). There is ample pay parking within a short walk as well as safe streetside parking.
Telus Science World is a favorite for school day trips and for children of all ages, with many hands-on exhibits and regular scientific demonstrations.
