First time at oshawa go and i didnt know what i need to do to tap off and then tap again to imediately get back on to go to union. The staff was very unhelpful and made it sound like it was my mistake for not tapping of and go the the counter instead to ask for help. I went to the counter 3 times and every time they sent me outside. I even handed them my card 3 times but they insisted i havent done so the first two times. I ended up having to ask for a paper ticket instead, all the while they made comments making it seem like i didnt do it right. Hands down the worst experience from GO personel.
Good station in terms of connection between the building and tracks - no stairs or elevators needed.
Nice upgrade on the Kiss n Ride section and new modern building which will have a nice waiting area and Tim Horton.
However with regards to parking and exiting the station: it is a nightmare. Hope they build few level parking lots like in Whitby/Ajax. It is must needed considering the amount of commuters using this station daily.
This station is absolutely pathetic and I spent 45 minutes looking for a parking space. The parking here is beyond pathetic and they need to do something to get themselves out of a Third World mentality. I ride trains throughout the US and Canada. Do yourselves a favor. Don't use this station if you intend to park your car. This is by far the worst station I've ever used. Just garbage.
This Via stop tells you is RUDE, INACCURATE AND INAPPROPRIATE, it announces beforehand to stand in front of train cab that you are riding as per train ticket but when it arrives opens the first and last train. If you are over 25 years of age, you will NOT make it to the ONLY train door that allows entry. As it does NOT ALLOW ENTRY TO WHAT YOUR TICKET STATES. This is NOT a service for elderly people. My 74 year old mother ran from train 4 to train 1 with less than 2 minutes to board. The staff were not only discourteous, but also verbally rude that I tried to leave the train as I was the only one helping my elderly mother board THE WRONG TRAIN CAB stated by the via boarding announcement. We were to board train 3, but train 4 opened to let 1 person out and the only train boarding was the first one. We will never use Via again. Horrible staff. Horrible service.
Horrible customer service. Short, unfriendly and the opposite of receptive. If you dislike your job that much go work elsewhere! For people taking the GO train for the first time or are inexperienced they don't make it clear at all which train is which and where it's heading to. The lady at the booth made us both feel stupid for even asking. Took a solid 10 minutes to find a parking spot. 2 stars as it's affordable and a convenient way to travel to the city. Bottom line changes need to be made.
Frequent via/go train user. Every single time I use the washrooms here they're filthy and smell like urine. What prompted me to write the review this time is that I arrived to the station at 6am, and expected the washrooms to be clean, since I was basically the first one there. So clearly- they rarely have cleaners in, which is disgusting considering the traffic going in and out of there. There should be a cleaner in over night or first thing in the morning to clean those washrooms. Very very off-putting.
Never too busy unless you are committing to work via Go Train. Parking lot is fairly small for the commuting crowd, I recommend they build a parking garage soon. They have just recently built a new station building, it looks very modern and large. Looking forward to the new building's opening. Monitors outside to view train departures without running inside, which is great for presto users. I would rate honestly 3 stars but I'm going to give it 4 stars for anticipation of the new building!
A bit confusing, considering all the construction going on. Quite hard to find your way around. Still, helpful staff and good transit options. The inside waiting area is a little tight at peak hours. I'll consider revising my review once the work is completed.
Usually get here by bicycle so parking doesn't affect me
Staff is usually good
Parking isn't great but the trains always run on time!
Also no good food. Overall it's a 3.5
The food is awful. I end up eating from a vending machine most of the time. The washrooms are decent. Also, as I recall, it has a TV, which puts it ahead of other stations.
I usually take my husband to the train station in the morning and pick him up at night. Even with the current construction 'kiss and ride' is a breeze. If you are planning on catching the train during the morning rush get there before 7:30am as the lots fill up fast.
