It’s important to remember that the changes to health care in our province aren’t only about how service is provided, but also that it’s about the people who provide it as well.
We’ve been representing workers in health care since 1950. And we know that when the time comes, we have what it takes to ensure that they get the representation they need and deserve.
Moving towards more open trades agreements, without considering Community Benefits Policies (CBAs) or Project Labour Agreements (PLAs), will put everyday Manitoban's at risk.

Our members choose to be OE987 for many reasons. We chatted with a couple after a recent membership meeting to hear what they have to say about their representation, and why they choose to be OE987.
Many of us write individual New Year’s resolutions as an opportunity to start fresh and accomplish those projects that we have on our minds. During 2019, we want you to take care of the things that really matter as we take care of your safety and proper work conditions.
Take a moment and share your New Year’s resolutions with us!
Project Labour Agreements have been used to protect the safety, security and quality of local construction jobs since 1960, creating new opportunities for apprenticeship, women, new Canadians, and Indigenous youth. #StopBill4
“2018 was a year quite like no other year in recent memory for the construction industry. How it forges ahead with new tools and rules in place could make 2019 a year of learning and finding balance on new ground.”
2018 was a year for evolution and change in terms of construction in our country. While the future may present challenges, we will continue to work toward a brighter and solid tomorrow for our members.
Whether you’re keeping our hospitals running or building the foundation for our future communities, we hope all our members enjoy a relaxing holiday season with their families and loved ones.
We thank you for making our province a better place to live and for giving us a wonderful 2018. We can’t wait to see everything that we’ll accomplish together in 2019.
Happy Holidays from all of us at OE987!
On Friday, November 30, members and staff officially started the holiday season at OE987’s annual Christmas Open House.
Not only did we give away a grand prize of Winnipeg Jets tickets, but we also had the opportunity to award bursaries to winning recipients.
Thank you to everyone who made it out! https://www.oe987.mb.ca/…/oe987-celebrates-members-at-chri…/

⚠️ HEADS UP for all crane operators!
Cold temperatures can have a big impact on overhead cranes. Extreme cold weather could reduce the crane’s tensile strength and weaken its overhead hydraulic system, which means that if the temperature is colder than -28C, you should reduce your load weight by 40% to work in safer conditions.
You should also:
• Surround your trolley with an enclosed track to protect it from ice • Use conductor bars to protect the crane’s joints
Stay warm everyone!
