Travel Reminder: Flying with Your Dog

•Give yourself and your pet extra time when checking in and when walking them if you’re going to have a layover. •Know your airline’s pet policy and the regulations of the country you’re going to. •Consider your pet’s comfort. •Whenever possible, travel shorter trips, avoid non-stop flights and extreme heat or cold temperatures. •As travelling cause anxiety for some dogs, check with your vet prior to planning the trip. Tolerance for flying is different for each pet. If your pet has health problems, ensure you have planned ahead for their medical care. •Get a crate that is sturdy, well ventilated, has enough room for your pet to stand up and lie down. •Bring your pet’s travel documents and make sure they are up to date.

Travel Tip: When You Don’t Speak the Language

In learning a new language it's easy to get overwhelmed with the range of options for language learning resources. Below are some tips we've gathered for you 😎

    • Identify your specific goal, and choose which learning method suits your style. (language apps, learning centres, online courses etc.)

    • If pressed for time, learn the words that you will be using most often. Build the vocabulary that is tailored to your needs. If a foodie traveller, make a list of foods you want to try. If travelling for architecture and history, words related to that goal. If you have a medical condition, words related to your condition which include foods you should stay away from.

    • Phrasebooks, translator apps can prove useful but can be limited with the gaps that exist. You might end up saying something that is different from what you actually mean.

    • For a more enriching experience, learn how to pronounce the words the way a native speaker does. Moreover, practice communicating with a native speaker. Italki is one of the online resources that provides an effective and affordable way to do a face- to- face interaction, and practice your newly acquired vocabulary. While it’s true that someone speaks English (basic at the least) in most places, knowing how to communicate with the locals in their native language shows one’s sincerity in knowing about their country and culture.

    If by Train

Train travel enthusiast or not the Man in Seat Sixty-One is a very informative travel site for anyone interested to travel by train. The site includes quite an extensive list of countries such as Switzerland, Japan, Indonesia, US, Cameroon, Malta, Luxembourg, Nepal, Canada (see the site for complete list). The Man in Seat Sixty-One provides extensive information: what the train is like in the city you wish to travel, how to go from city to city and tourist destinations, timetables, how to get the cheapest train tickets and more. If you do air travel and cruising in most of your trips, maybe it’s time to experience a train trip. With the information you’ll find nobody and nothing can stop you to having an epic and scenic train journey. Interestingly enough, Man on Seat 61 provides information for free to users. The travel site is not a travel agency and is maintained by an individual named Mark Smith.

We received our dog carrying bag quickly and it is perfect! It is comfortable and durable. I have had other bags which made my back ache and this one is great. Our chihuahua loved seeing Nashville from the safety of this pouch.
