Many thanks to the owner, cooks, and lovely wait staff who helped us to have a magical surprise dinner party for our dad / grandad / partner / & brother’s 80th birthday. We had a large group of adults and 5 children ages 9 months to 4, and the staff couldn’t have been more charming, patient and accomodating. The service, wines and food were all excellent. Favourites included the beet salad, crab cakes, the poutine, and both beef dishes each of which were complex, layered in flavour and essentially (the latter) melted in our mouths.

We had a delicious meal and incredible service. The cancellation policy was explained when we made the reservationand I think every restaurant should do the same! We were greeted and welcomed pleasantly. We were seated immediately. Our server Rahul, and all the servers we dealt with, were pleasant, helpful and efficient. The food was amazing. The martinis and the wine Rahul recommended were equally delicious. The price point is perfect. We sat on the patio (by choice) and look forward to eating inside with the music next time. Thank you for the lovely birthday dinner.

We had a lovely dinner tonight for my sister's birthday. The server (Lisa) was fantastic, the atmosphere warm and comfortable and the food was delicious. The menu accommodated all of our tastes. There is something for everyone here! I will definitely want to go back and 10/10 would recommend.

I honestly never leave reviews but felt the need to leave one after reading all the mixed reviews about this restaurant. My husband and I had dinner with friends here for the first time and had an amazing experience. From the friendly owner greeting us as we walked in, to the amazing wait staff and unbelievable food, this restaurant is hands down one of the best we’ve been to. Highly recommend this restaurant to all.

I can't speak to the quality of the food, as we left within 10 minutes of arriving for our reservation. Hostess was great, manager (owner?)was simply awful. We reserved for 3 and had a last minute cancellation, which we informed them of before being seated, and were told it was no problem. 5 minutes after being seated, we were offered a smaller table, which we declined. The manager then came over and told us that since they had overbooked, we HAD to move. Who's fault is that, hmmm? (Place was empty, btw). He tried to seat us on the stage where the band plays. We moved all right, down the street to where they know how to run a restaurant. To be clear, all of the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Too bad the top guy had to ruin it.

Great food. Awesome service. Great night out. A pity that the owner saw fit to charge us for two people unable to make an 18 person reso. talked to the owner and gave him every opportunity to explain such a silly charge. He pointed to neighboring tables and stated how much they were paying by way of clarifying. I have never in 12 years in the restaurant business nor in 40 years in a family that eats out often heard or seen a dumber explanation in my life. the table you pointed to to explain how you could have filled it was a four top bud! Here is a tip for your next spot when this one closes..always assume your guest is connected and treat them that way. You made a bad call today guy.

I recently went to Mattson & Co for the first time, because I heard my friend Dragos started working there, and I was quite impressed! I’m not familiar with Locke street, so I hadn’t given it a try, and I’m glad I did! Drinks were great, the food was on point, as was the service of course. If Hamilton was on the Michelin Guides radar, I guarantee this would have a star! The music was really nice too. I’m definitely recommending Mattson &Co to my freinds and coworkers whenever I can

Where do I start the ambience of Mattson & Co. is incredible. I'm always warmly greeted anytime I enter and the service is always impeccable. Ronn & Ross are very personable and know how to take care of their guests. My coat is always taken upon entering and hung up - who else do you know that goes above and beyond like this? Hands down the best menu in town - the wild berry cobbler is always a family favourite, always baked to perfection and melts in your mouth! It's clear to see that both Ronn & Ross care deeply about their guests and always create a memorable experience every time we visit! My favourite spot in Hamilton without a doubt - you will not be disappointed!

I picked 5 as that's all I could choose. However definitely at 10 star. We happened to come across Mattson and Co. by chance. After a long day with my colleagues and I had to present at a work fuction, we were famished. We had already stopped in at another venue but they don't start serving dinner until 5. It was 4 and we haven't had anything since breakfast. We drove by the resturant, I called to confirm they were serving well.. thankfully they were. We were greeted by Ronn and immediately we were treated like the Queen. He was extremely friendly and attentive to us. As were our waitresses. The food, the presentation, the atmosphere and music..wow, this resturant is top notch in every aspect! A hidden gem in Hamilton. Thank you Ronn and all your staff to affording us a wonderful dining experience after an exhausting couple days! �

Decided to check this restaurant out after seeing it’s yummy advertisements in the Spectator for the $40 price fixe dinner menu. Went last Tuesday night and we heard a lovely young singer sing two songs while we enjoyed our meal. The service was outstanding and the food delicious. I had the lobster gnocchi and the egg was a nice touch. My partner had the meatloaf w four cheese pasta which was equally yummy. Both of or desserts -gluten free brownie and banana bread in a rum butter sauce were delicious. I will definitely be back.

Just had a birthday dinner here with friends and this place is fantastic! Got a perfect raspberry mojito to start! Appetizers - totally recommend the calamari! Super friendly and attentive staff! Main course had the special which was bass with shrimp cooked to perfection! Very warm and inviting location, charming decor and great for any occasion ! Will come back for sure! Come see Sean he will treat you right :)

Right from the minute we stepped through the door we felt we chose the right venue. The service is A+++ and the food just as good as the service. I have been to MANY restaurants in my personal and business ventures and this place is in my top 3 favorites now! We will be back and you will be highly recommended to others. When we arrived we were asked by the owner if we had a reservation at to which we said we sadly didn’t. He didn’t seem to mind and walked off saying something. We assumed he asked us to follow him since he left before we could get him to clarify and when we arrived at the dining room we saw him moving tables around to which we didn’t mind then the owner turns around surprised we followed him and said “I didn’t say to follow me!” So feeling slightly awkward we apologized and my husband said “I’m sorry I must have misheard you” then the owner states back “I said id be back in one minute” when my husband was leading me back downstairs the owner yells “well now that you’re here you might as well sit down” at that point we wanted to leave. It felt very uncomfortable. But decided to stay to try the food. The server was nice and easy to talk to.
Had the owner come and I assume was to apologize for the misunderstanding We got our food and sadly wasn’t to our expectations so we paid and left as soon as we could.
Sadly we won’t be back to this establishment but we wish this business much success in the future.response / report this review -

My husband and I recently moved to Hamilton and have made it a point to dine at many restaurants in the city, old and new. We wanted to truly explore what the city's culinary scene has to offer. In too many cases we have been disappointed.but not at Mattson & Co. We have now dined here for both dinner and brunch and each were the best we have experienced in the city. The food is creative but very accessible, well cooked and full of flavour. Service has been friendly and professional. Would definitely recommend.

I have only been for lunch and food is always absolutely fabulous! I have never had something that I didn't like. I would highly recommend the Brie, the mushroom toast, and all their pizzas are great! I do miss the pesto & something something pizza though!
However, last few times I have been I have found the service to be inattentive which really makes me really sad, and hesitant to return.response / report this review -

Great ambiance Clean and sophisticated.fantastic food and service. Slight mix up with the entree But I wasn't upset. They made it right and the food spoke for itself. Great place for our second Anniversary. We highly recommend it And will definitely be back.
