  My 75 year old mother loves it when I take her to Lee Chen so she decided to go with her friend today. Unfortunately, they found a couple of insects in one of their noodle dishes today. When she pointed out the insects, the server tried to convince her that it was pepper. My mother owned a restaurant - she knows what pepper looks like. Finally the server removed the dish.
  
  
  
  The problem wasn't the insects - this happens in summer kitchens. The issue is that the server then came back and started wiping down the table while my mom et al. were still eating the other two dishes and plopped down the bill before they were finished. It was nearly 2pm - the place was empty.
  
  
  
  Lee Chen did have the good sense to remove the noodle dish from the bill at least, but my mother was completely confused over why they were rushed out especially since she had done nothing wrong except send back a dish with winged insects in it. She paid the remainder of the bill and we will never be back.

  Was looking for a spot to have lunch. Selected this option close by due to reviews. Overall experience was excellent! Ordered the soup-filled dumplings (a must!!!), shao mai, won-ton soup, hot & sour soup, beef with black bean sauce plate and brown rice with a nice bottle of red wine. All of it was delicious! The service was superb! I highly recommend Lee Chen and would return again when visiting Toronto.

  It is kid friendly which I appreciate and I enjoyed the food until I found a rubber band in my ginger beef.

  Had a lovely lunch today at Lee Chen Asian Bistro. Pretty decor and comfortable. Food was surprisingly pretty authentic. I went in expecting a western/fusion approach but was delighted to find otherwise. We had dumplings two ways (steamed and pan fried), smashed cucumbers, bamboo shoots, rice cakes with pork and veggies, dan dan noodles with pork and peanuts (super spicy alert!) and topped it all off with tong yuens (black sesame stuffed glutinous balls covered in crushed peanuts) and 'coconut pillows' (I think that's what they were called). Everything was quite good. My deduction of 1 star would be for the service. We did have to flag staff down to place our orders and I found the general demeanor of staff could be better. Overall, really nice surprise experience as I've passed by a million times and always wanted to try.

  went to this restaurant today for lunch, food was OK, compared with what we had in Taiwan it was quite bland, price was quite high considering the portion of food; the real problem came at check-out. the credit card machine was pre-set to tip a minimum of 15%. when I asked the waitress how to tip a certain amount, she asked how much I wanted to tip and it worked out to around 12%. she took the machine, entered 12%, asked me if the amount was OK and then next threw the receipt on the table and walked away. I was stunned. 12% was not generous but based on the service I received it was decent. I've been to this restaurant before but today would be the last. I would not recommend it to my friends.

  Lee Chen's Asian Bistro is my favorite restaurant in Toronto!!! The food is excellent and pretty authentic, the staff is very friendly and everytime i walk into this restaurant, i feel like im actuallly having a meal in Taiwan or something. Great experience everytime.

  I took a friend to Lee Chen Asian Bistro for dinner tonight after a movie about 9pm. The waitress should of inform us they will be close by 10pm, but instead, she rushed us to order food when we just sit down. Then she made us pay the bill while we were still eating and made us to leave the restaurant by 10:03. The meal was about $70 with 15% tip. The food was not hot, service was rushed and experience was just terrible. I understand they have a store hour, but she should of tell us before taking our order. It was very embarrassing for me to take my friend to eat there and will NOT recommend it to anyone.

  Decent food at a decent price. Waiter was a little absentminded - he forgot to put fortune cookies, plastic forks, or paper napkins in the takeaway bag.
