This was one of our favorite finds of the week. Just a few doors down from our hotel. We were tired and said hey lets go try this place with 4+ stars on Google. We were not disappointed. My husband is not really a pasta fan, but absolutely loved it. Definitely somewhere we want to return to when we head back to Toronto!

Nice Italian ambiance. I saw the past review about the portions being small. I totally disagree. My portions were almost too big for me. Nice ambiance and decor.

High prices for sub-par food, small portions, and poor service.
I wasn't thrilled with my experience here. On a positive note, we were greeted by a man I assume to be the owner. He was nice and welcoming. We were brought to our seats and it took no less than 10 minutes for someone to address us. I think it was a family member of the owner, but she definitely wasn't a waitress. She didn't bring us waters when we asked for them and our appetizer arrived with our dinner a bit cold. We got our food relatively quickly, brought over by an actual waitress who was on top of things when she realized we weren't taken care of well.
I paid $20 for penne and sausage that was hardly enough for a normal human being.
I won't go to this place again. We should've walked the extra kilometers to Donatellosresponse / report this review -

Best restaurant in downtown Toronto. The food is fresh and delicious and the service is outstanding. We called ahead to see if a reservation was available within 30 minutes and were greeted by the lovely owner John Carbone who said come on down and we'll find you a place. We arrived to a lively and very cool place. John took us right back and gave us a table by the kitchen. Our waiter had such a great personality and we had a fun time talking with him. He also gave us great recommendations. The garlic bread was crisp and just perfect. My husband had a healthy fish special and I had a pasta dish with a very tasty sauce and pork. The seasonal pumpkin cheesecake was also delicious. Before we left, John asked if we touched the tree and made a wish. Being newbies, we had no clue of this tradition but gladly joined the fun. John even took the time to tell us a bit of the history and take our picture. We felt like family. I cannot say enough good things about John, the staff, and the whole experience. What a great way to start our adventure in Toronto. Do not miss the chance to meet John and enjoy the cuisine.

Just recently went here during TIFF 2017. I took a seat at the street side, and even ordered with the waitress until the owner of the restaurant came out and asked us to sit at the bar and have our cocktails and dessert because apparently you can only eat entrée’s sitting in the freezing cold so your food can get cold! How stupid is this policy! I did not understand why we were being asked to go outside since the weather was not all that great and the waitress told us that it should be fine anyways due to that reason. The behavior from this restaurant owner was very unprofessional and plain rude. They did not have to ask us to go inside, especially when the weather outside was so bad that nobody wanted to sit out anyways! In fact, once we moved over to literally the next table that was part of the other restaurant next door to Kit Kat, we saw that they were losing many people who were sitting outside. I have never been asked to get out of my seat once seated and this act of asking someone to get up in front of others was so embarrassing especially since there were many other seats available. I rarely ever post a negative review, however, this act was so extremely hurtful that I just had to let others know about what this restaurant is capable of doing to anyone. I do not recommend going to this restaurant because you never know when you will be asked to vacate your seat and have it sit empty throughout the night. Horrible management!

Absolutely delicious! Super fast service and friendly especially during TIFF. The owner John is great, helped ensure seating was fast and the server Jackie!!! Was a gem of a server filled with so much personality. Definitely recommend !

Kit Kat has some of the best food in the whole city. It's always busy, but the staff can usually get you a table within ten minutes. The service is always pretty excellent, the atmosphere is casual, fun, and kitschy, and the food is always amazing! It's not too expensive either, and although it's always busy, it's surprisingly not too loud. If you're seated in the back of the restaurant, you get to see the kitchen and the chefs preparing your food, which is pretty neat! It's located in Mirvish Village (the entertainment district of T.O.), which makes a convenient place for anyone attending an event at Second City, TIFF Lightbox, Princess of Wales Theatre, the Royal Alexander Theatre, or Roy Thompson Hall.

Our server was personable, funny and gave us great recommendations. Fairly priced food with generous portions that were also delicious! Good wine selection and daily specials. We'll definitely be back!

A well deserved 5 stars for this hole in the wall restaurant. We showed up without a reservation and John said he would do some hokey pokey to get us in. So glad he did. A packed house on a Saturday night, elbow to elbow. Great service, attentive but not hovering. Started with a Campari and soda at the bar, then we were quickly seated. On to a great Cesar salad, rigatoni with a wonderful, fresh rose sauce, with beef and artichoke, a glass of wine - perfect. A great place for before the theatre, or make a reservation and talk all night. Will definitely come back.

Charming little spot on King West right by The TIFF Lightbox. We were seated in a very cute little alcove for our meal and it really added to the experience. Good Italian food and great service.

Went Kit Kat before taking in a show and was very disappointed. Not sure how it has earned such high ratings.
The space is crazy small like doll size small. It's an Italian restaurant but it did not feel like one. Although we had reservations, we had wait 15 minutes for a table. Then we were placed at the very front, right by the doors. It was an exceptionally cold night and we got a nice cold draft every time the doors opened.
Now onto the meals - very bland. The lemon butter sauce was flavorless and the chicken was bland, although moist. Couldn't eat the mound of mash potatoes that accompanied the chicken.
The rigatoni chicken pasta was also boring.

The place is small but the staff is full of personality and they are sassy in the best way. Everything we ordered was to die for. The fettuccine Alberto was out of the world, best plate of my life. I had it with chicken and shrimp. I just loved it. Can't get over it and sad that it's only in Toronto.

Extremely busy little restaurant, but if you make a reservation it is well worth the short wait.
These guys know there business and surprisingly remember faces even if you only visit every so often. Which makes you feel like a VIP.
The resturant had a cozy atmosphere that allowed you to carry on conversations at your table without having to scream at the person sitting across from you.
The service was exceptionally great, the food even better and the wine list, yet not overly extensive paired well with the food being served.response / report this review
