As international space agencies move forward into deeper space, there is an emerging commercial space market in Low Earth Orbit -- the final frontier is opening up. Countries and companies are jostling to capture their place in the new space economy and the stakes are high.
Today, space touches the lives of Canadians 20 to 30 times a day -- from weather predictions, to using an ATM, to checking a map on a smartphone, to downloading movies, to ground and air traffic management, and big data analytics. Tomorrow’s advances -- autonomous cars, smart cities, advanced autonomous AI and robotics -- are also tied to space science and digital technologies.
The global space market is worth over USD $380B today; analysts forecast it will grow to be a multi-trillion-dollar market in coming decades.
Who will lead in this exciting new realm of economic activity? The U.K. aims to capture 10 percent of the global space market by 2030; Luxembourg has set its sights on being the leading space mining country. Canada, the third country in space, is a world leader in satellite communications, Earth observation, space robotics, space science, optics and sensors thanks to past strategic investments by the Canadian government.
Our country faces an important decision in the coming months: Will we maintain our leadership or will we choose to let go?

Just wanted to extend our appreciation of last nights Celebrate Success event. The Trusted team is honored to be the recipient of the SABEX 2014 Award for Marketing. The finalists in both of the categories we were finalist in were all primarily women owned and operated, and the other marketing finalists Metric Design Centre and SleepWell Baby are amazing and have a strong and effective marketing strategies both off and online- i am proud to be a member of such a progressive Greater Saskatoon Chamber of Commerce that recognizes times have changed KUDOS to you and to all the 2014 finalists and winners
