In the off season you can come free of charge. A really great place to walk the dog, go for a hike, bike the trails, rent a canoe, fish in the river or lake, campout, etc, etc. And all within city limits. There are so many areas to explore here. The ice fisherman are usually catching some walleye too; it's 22/01/2018 and there's a good foot of ice right now. I've also seen photographers that perch themselves up on the dam, they wait for the wildlife, and the deer are especially thick here. In the summer the lake is bustling with sailboats, fisherman, and tons of athletes rowing their hearts out, coaches bellowing over their megaphones and all. It's one of London's best outdoor playgrounds, no doubt.
lots of rules and restrictions but exceptions are given to very select few. lake is operated by a conservation group that has done more capitalizing and using then they have done good.lake it self is nice during off season like oct till may. Once summer heat kicks in the blue algae bacteria problem manifest and the water goes lime green and is rendered chit. plus side is the water holds good fish. and it "looks"nice
