We have been bringing our now 15 year old lab to Dr. Costa for over a year. He has helped her with post knee replacement surgery, pneumonia, mega esophagus, arthritis, deteriorating shoulders, and more.
Dr. Costa is a young and has a really progressive approach to medicine. He spends as much time as needed and doesn't cut appointments short. Sometimes the wait to see him runs over a few minutes but we know it is that he will take the time with all clients so it is not a problem. We have gotten to the point where we have called him with questions after appointments, and unless it is an emergency he always called back at the end of his day spending plenty of time talking with us.
We are no longer in the SE but we still try to book online with him and have no issues driving 40mins to get a good vet.

Took my dog for the self wash service. We were denied service as my dog had been sprayed by a skunk in the past. My dog had been bathed and no longer carried any odour other than the peroxide/vinegar/baking soda concoction. The employee refused to understand that the dog had already been cleaned stating repeatedly that they can't take a dog that has been sprayed by a skunk as they will lose business. Well guess what, you've lost our business moving forward.

We got a puppy this past September and had to find a vet. We ended up trying Due South. They seemed nice enough at first, but as time went on we found problems with them. I should have realized there was a problem when one of the vets prescribed a pro-biotic and an anti-biotic at the same time. I'm no doctor, but the results seem somewhat evident to anyone paying any attention.

More recently, they passed along incorrect information to our insurance provider, resulting in us having our claim refused. Worse than that, as a result of this incorrect info being sent, the insurance provider has listed the puppy as having a pre-existing condition, so we would no longer be able to make any claim that relates to stomach issues with our pet. We had to cancel our policy with that insurance company and go to another one just to get a clean slate. In the end, I found the staff uneducated and left with the impression that they were only in business to make money.

Time to find a good vet clinic that operates primarily as a hospital and not as a "for profit" business.

Doctor Vanessa Carl is the most loving and attentive vet I have ever had the pleasure of treating our two dogs and two cats. She helped us through treating our American Eskimo for advanced kidney disease for three years (!) through diet and medication, and when he became too sick to carry on, she was kind enough to come to our home to allow him to pass in comfort and love. I will never trust anyone else with the care of our fur babies
