The girls have decided to hibernate. They say “wake us up when it’s spring”.
Hopefully as the day warms up they come out and stretch their little legs.

No - this precious pony is not ours. (She was having fun getting dirty before I took this photo of her though.)
This is Fable and she lives at The Ass Menagerie Sanctuary in Wainfleet . She was rescued from a very bad situation and still - and, 1.5 years later - is learning to forgive , forget, and trust.
Her momma - Leisa - has been so patient with her. Seeing how much she loves this sweet girl and accepts her with all her baggage is heartwarming. Pouring your heart and soul into an animal and over a year later - still seeing the hurt they feel - is not easy!
A year ago, Leisa became aware that Fable had a son with her - enduring the same brutal past that she had. He was separated from his mother during the seizure - and the humane society kept him in their care . As soon as Leisa found out - she made it clear he would always have a home with his mother at TAMS. Just recently Leisa was in touch with the humane society they are happy to let him go to join his mother ! These two sweet souls can continue their journey of healing together - side by side - safe forever.
Leisa is not great at asking for help - and she will do whatever is best for her fur, feather, wool, and bristle babies. She is almost solely self funded which - being on this side of the sanctuary - is not an easy task!
If you guys can share the heck out of this to help subsidize some of the huge costs involved in this family reunion that would be amazing ❤️.

Happy thanksgiving weekend from all of us at the sanctuary. I made a mini pumpkin pie tart for Sean he was less than impressed .
On a holiday where Turkeys are mass slaughtered - we are thankful that Sean found a home, here in safety . We are thankful that so many people get to meet him and see what amazing birds turkeys are.

Today is World Farm Animal Day.
As silly as it is - I felt terribly guilty for keeping Calvin and Zoey in their stall yesterday during the cold, rainy day. The reality is most calves spend their entire (all too short) lives in an area much smaller than these kids stall - not to mention the average calf is alone. They get to stretch their legs on the way to the truck that will take them to the slaughter house.
These two are a prime example of what a calf wants to do - run, play, live.
Today - on World Farm Animal Day - we mourn all of the calves who will never get to run - all of the hens who will never see daylight - all of the pigs who will never root in the dirt - and every animal born into the “industry”.
We see the personalities these sweet souls have, and our heart breaks daily for those who never get to let their light shine.
I’m sorry this is taking so long - you are all loved - and you all deserve the life Calvin and Zoey lucked out and fell into.

Happy rescue-versary to Josie and her daughter Millie!
The first 4 pictures are Josie when she came to us - as a spent diary goat - not even healthy enough to go for meat. Emaciated and with a bad case of mastitis she would have been put down.
We were able to save her and her 5 week old baby. The two are never apart! Millie still nurses occasionally even.
Josie has blossomed into a beautiful, chubby, and bossy old woman. We adore her despite her major attitude.
She rules the herd with an iron hoof from the picnic table, spools, or anything that puts her higher than the lowly peasant goats.
We love you so much girls ❤️.

On Saturday Calvin was under the weather - we had he vet come out and he seemed to have the very start of pneumonia .
He is feeling worlds better now and is back to his sweet , cuddly , self .
Nothing like Calvin cuddles on a dreary morning ❤️

We attended the open house and we absolutely loved every minute of it! Interacting with the animals was blissful. The farm is beautiful and serene and it is evident that the animals are very well loved and cared for. The owners are doing amazing work. We'll definitely be visiting again.

Thank you for such an amazing tour! My parents, my baby and I had so much fun meeting everyone. Even my husband who had work and couldn’t make it, face timed to see Calvin. We’ll be back for sure. � �
