One of my favorite places. Excellent venue for live performances as well as hanging out on a Sunday and playing pool while watching football. Great service and very friendly.

I kept on hearing that Better than Fred's had some dang good BBq from fellow coworkers of mine. Well being from Texas I had to see what this place was all about. First off, great atmosphere. The locals are friendly and offer to buy drinks all the time. Second, the staff is very helpful and will help you if you don't know what you want to order or to drink. Now keep in mind the only thing I ordered was the BBQ. Third, the BBQ is ok, they lather their meat up with BBQ sauce before the serve it. To me that is a sign they hiding something, burnt or dry meat. Am not a fan of BBQ sauce but rather the quality of the meat. You can tell it's cooked over the open flame rather then smoked. Nothing compared to Texas BBQ but I have to give credit where credit is do, the pulled pork was damn good. I will be sure to order the pulled pork again. I will be sure to return the next time I am town. Nothing compares to a few cold ones with the locals while playing pool and watching the games that are on. Cheers!

Coolest atmosphere you can find around GP. Stopped by for quick snack and had the fried pickles and wow it was amazing! Definitely the place to go for some good fun, pool, music, or to watch the game.

Great atmosphere, amazing venue for live music, and fantastic food. Fred's has it all, highly recommend checking it out and enjoying what they have to offer. The brisket cheese steak was dynamite!

Not a bad restaurant. Has the bar atmosphere to it but the food is decent. Live music is played sometimes as well making itnaoethwhile.

I've been to every bar, pub , and hole in the wall in Grande Prairie, and I can say with confidence that Better Than Fred's, is the best establishment in the city. I've never felt more welcome in a bar ever! Most places in town, like Shark Club for example, the staff is not welcoming or very rarely, and just make you feel alienated, but at Better than Fred's Grande Prairie, the staff are super welcoming and nice! Its a very family like astmosphere; also the owner is very hands on and a very nice guy!

I would recommend this fine establishment to anyone who is looking for a humble, relaxing but also extremely f$&@ing awesome time! Also their Food is F$&@ING AMAZING! And the best prices in the city !!!

Love the smoked wings and the pulled pork sandwich. And the bbq burrito. And the salmon dip. And the mac and cheese bites. And the sweet chili chicken. The whole menu! Also love the live music.

Great atmosphere, nice to play pool, beer was cold! I had a sampler with BBQ pulled pork, chicken leg, a couple ribs, side of beans and dirty rice. Group also shared a team platter with wings, natchos, perogies, etc. Portions were generous. All the "non smoked" food ranged from okay to tasty, but the flavor of the smoke on the meats was terrible, almost inedible. To me it tasted like burnt rubber. Some guys were actually not eating the wings! The pulled pork wasn't as strong but it was really dry. I've had BBQ in the southern states and this is not BBQ. I might go back for other food but definitely will not order anything smoked. Maybe it was just an off night.
