You downtown east of Younge St. and want many beers? Then this your spot. A wealth of beer options a great outdoor space. Decent food us available tradition pub fair with above average quality. A soild post work beer place, it's definitely about the beer here. Good out door space in good weather.
NEVER GO HERE! We ate there last night as a group of 8. I split a Reuben with my brother.
Our waitress was very good but the food was horrible!!!! We ordered a Reuben which tasted like pulled pork and didn't have any resemblance to a traditional Reuben sandwich whatsoever! We both indicated to the waitress that it wasn't a real Reuben as it didn't have sauerkraut nor was it red in colour but brown just like pork. We didn't like it at all, indicated this our waitress and she came back with a small dish of pulled pork and another one of the Reuben to prove us wrong. We kind of laughed at this approach as we live in restaurants. We were both totally dissatisfied thus any good restaurant would refund the meal as such as we were on our way to a concert. Lastly, we'll never go back!!!!!!
Oh yea one more thing.automatic 18% gratuity with a table of 8. RIDICULOUS! when you are dissatisfied.
Great little spot tucked away just off of King St. east of Yonge.
In the summer they have a great big patio running along side a quiet pedestrian walkway. There are countless beers on tap and the food is very well done (the fries cooked in duck fat are incredible!).
The crowd is what you would expect from a bar in the downtown core - usually business casual to business formal type crowd.
I will say the service is the only thing holding it back from a full 5 stars, nothing glaringly terrible - just spotty and quite slow sometimes.
I ordered a braised leg of lamb dish and got a chicken dump stick with an egg on curry source. The waitress insisted this was the dish I ordered but would make something else for me if I didn't like the food I had. They forgot the sponge toffee on the The Floating Island dessert and gave it to me on a separate small plate. Overall the waitress' attitude was bad and added a 18% tips to our bill automatically without letting us know. I would not have given her that kind of tips with the service I received. I will not recommend this restaurant.
Great place! We stopped by just for the fries and a couple drinks. The waitress was amazing and made me a custom flight of the top beers on tap.
Also the duck fat fries alone were worth the visit
Great beer selection but food is just okay. Beer and cheese fondue was good to share. A little pricey for the quality. Went on a weekend afternoon and it was nice and quiet
Beer Bistro used to be incredible; I can't help but wonder if there has been a recent change in ownership. The beer selection is now pathetic and the food is dreadful. Pre-packaged lettuce for (an overdressed) salad; you have to do better than that if you're charging $10 for a small portion! Very disappointing "culinary" experience. I won't be back, which is a shame as I was once a frequent patron.
Comfortable restaurant with good service and wonderful mussels. The suckling pig served on Saturday nights is also excellent. Good beer selection and an outside patio in the summer. Recommended.
4 stars for the fries only. Months later, I still dream about the fries. Belgian-style. Fried in duck fat. Excellent portion. What more can you ask for?
Extensive selection of beer. What's great is you can try any 3 draft beers for $6 for 4 oz pours. Mussels were nothing memorable, though the sauce was perfect with the delicious complimentary bread.
We hung out in the bar area, which had comfortable seating and fantastic service. This was a short stop for us, just a quick bite and beer, so we didn't get to try the rest of the menu. But I would definitely stop for the fries if I'm in the area. And some beer.
My sister and I were there for dinner Saturday night and as usual had a wonderful mussels dinner with the bistro salad to start. The mussels were piping hot when they were brought to our table and the beer paired with it was amazing. Our waitress was very helpful and fun. We go to Beer Bistro every year on our trip to Toronto and we will eat there next year too.
Love this place. Great selection of beers (best I've seen) and excellent, unique menu items to go with it. Nice decor - great place to meet friends or colleagues.
Decided to go here after getting turned away from Bier Markt because it was too busy to accommodate us on a Saturday night.
They had a fantastic selection of beers and we all enjoyed the flights of three beers for $6. We ordered burgers, fries, spicy beef tacos (which were not spicy) and mussels and it was all delicious.
Highly recommend!
Incredible selection of local and imported beers. You can get a selection of tasters which is a great way to try a bunch of beers. The muscles are amazing and are the specialty of the house. We have been numerous times and have always had great service.
Have been going here for 5 years amazing food, attentive staff just got remodeled I can't wait to see it. You have to try it you won't regret it. Did I mention the over 200 beer selection!!?
I've had a soft spot for this place ever since I moved to Toronto in 2005. It's very consistent. The food is simple but always good. Their pulled pork sandwich must have a shout at best in the city. And their fries are my absolute favourite!
Beer selection is good as expected. Although die hard beer people may be disappointed at the choice of the Belgium Trappist beers as well as the filler that seems to be on the beer menu.
Friendly staff here too. I hope these stay on business for many years to come.
