Best sushi place I know of. And I've been to a ton downtown up town ect. Love this place. And David the owner as well as Stanley the chef and Most of the staff I have encountered help make this place even more great. Try the spicy tuna handroll. I have yet to find a place with fresher tuna.
Teppanyaki restaurant. It offers a large menu but it's simpler to order off the "set" menu. You can order for one, two, three
Pick your mix (typically meat and sea food, though I went for scallops, prawns and Miso fish). Your get a bean sprout heavy stir fry, a Miso soup, the mix of teppanyaki and fried rice. With the exception of the soup it's all cooked infront of you by a very smiley chef (word to the wise: eat it as it's cooked so it doesn't get cold, leave your serving plate in place though to continue to receive your food).
The waitresses are ever present and very attentive which is not as creepy as I just made it sound. Very good service in fact.
We had a group of 8 and were accommodated around one half of a grill with a little room to spare.
The place was rammed even though it was a school night. Lots of other Asian based food restaurants in this complex but this place was heaving which suggests it was a local favourite.
Plenty of seating, plenty of free parking nearby and great service. Why wouldn't you?
Food was great, service was great. Totally recommended!
Did the teppanyaki, got the seafood single and wagyu beef w/ kobe ribs single. I paid to watch an old man stir fry food on a flat top using the same seasonings (soy sauce, pepper, cooking wine - the shrimp had lime juice) over and over again. It was worse than any KBBQ experience you can imagine, but at twice the price. Save your money, throw all the ingredients in a pan at home and you'll experience more than I did (for the Akasaka experience, go overboard on the soy sauce). There was no variety in flavour. The "A5 wagyu" beef did not look remotely marbled the way that wagyu is supposed to be. I'm questioning whether it truly was wagyu. It was overcooked by the time it got to me.
I get that there are limitations to teppanyaki in terms of flavour. However for those prices, I expected some sort of show. Not a single pepper grinder toss, or flame was experienced. I would have been happier paying those prices to get behind the table myself. Seriously, any Chinese fast food shop will put out similar or better quality food for ~$6-10 per dish. This is highway robbery for what is given.
Service seemed polite, but rushed - despite nobody being around the table. Perhaps the waiter was trying to be "on the ball". He didn't give us any space to breathe.
Seriously - stay away. These guys shouldn't be in business.
This restaurant is VERY OVERRATED, for very ordinary subpar sushi not to mention over priced!
The older lady there not sure is she the manager, owner or just a worker but she was incredibly rude. We received 5 out of the seven things we ordered and she was trying tell me we had already got the other 2 things and calling me a liar when we most definitely did NOT get the other two dishes. We were still starving at this point but she was so rude we left. Went to moxies and had delicious food and drinks that made up for this mistake of a restaurant!!
Overpriced underwhelming food, come for the okay experience not the food
Absolutely horrible. The employee was very rude to one of my relatives simply because she didn't have enough money to give a "tip". He is a male Chinese worker of about 25 - 30 years old. Complained like a toddler because he didn't get any extra cash. Grow up and get over it, wimp.
this restaurant is amazing. I came here on my birthday and the show was outstanding. the service was amazing.
Service was absolute garbage lmao. The waitress looked she couldn't wait to get rid of us. The chef didn't do a single trick except put up 2 little fires and called it a night. The man was looking so stressed I almost asked him if he's okay.
Do yourself a favor and go to Iron Chef if you actually want real entertainment. It was like watching my dad cook dinner the whole night lmao.
The only upside here is that the food quality is actually pretty good.
Akasaka provides an awesome cook-top/teppanyaki experience. I've been with friends/family over a dozen times and each time, the chefs are excellent at preparing your meal and entertaining in the process. Food quality is top-notch, especially the sushi, and service has always been fast and attentive. This place is a hidden-gem. Check it out and teppanyaki is highly recommended for a great meal and show at an excellent price!
I decided to check this place out for a birthday dinner the week of March 25th, 2017 Saturday night based on past online reviews. Showed up without a reservation and was seated after a 5 minute wait. My wife and I each ordered the AKASAKA LOBSTER DINNER. The cold and warm appetizer came out within the first 15 min without issue. My wife ordered a tea, which the waitress forgot about. No biggie. So she reordered a beer. I had the same. Each dish was visually appealing and nicely plated. We each ordered the grilled lobster for our main dish which I thought could have been larger in portion size. It looked like they had removed the lobster meat re-baked it and mixed it with sauces and re-added it back into the shell for serving. The Angus beef teriyaki was evenly cooked and tasted great. It did take an additional 20 min for the main course to arrive after our appetizers were ordered. Dessert was each a scoop of ice cream. When the bill was given it had come up to $90 before taxes. I thought the service was fine but didn't warrant the 15% gratuity. I left her 10%. The waitress then replied and said it was customary to leave the 15%. I didn't want to make a scene so I gave her a few extra bucks. Leaving the restaurant that night I was left with a sour taste in my mouth after the experience. Needles to say, I probably won't be going back a second time. FYI be careful about your tipping here.
The chef was engaged and amusing throughout the dinner and did a few tricks here and there, nothing too special, just about what you would expect at a teppanyaki dinner.
Three main things that stood out from the dinner was a) scallops b) "silver snow" fish c) lamb. These were all cooked to perfection (not too raw or too well done, just enough to get its flavours and textures out right).
Their ingredients are all very fresh and the quality of their food is definitely top-notch. The price is definitely much higher than your average sushi restaurant and even higher than other teppanyakis out there.
Atmosphere and decor were a typical high-end Japanese restaurant. The service was good, with frequent tea refills. Overall, a good restaurant, but likely more suited for occasional celebrations than frequent meals here!
Teppanyaki was good but the service was very poor we had to ask so many times getting tea.
The teppenyaki was amazing. Entertaining chef and incredibly delicious food. A bit pricey but it is completely worth your money. An eating experience hard to beat.
