  This is a free ferry for crossing the Mopan River on the road to the Xuanantunich archaeological site. Only the driver stays in the car as all passengers get out and walk onto the ferry for safety reasons. As the name implies the ferry has a cable and weight system that is powered with a hand crank. At this location the river has a pretty bluish green appearance which was a sacred color to the Maya.

  Simple way to cross a river! If you ask nicely they'll let your crazy husband crank the ferry across the river while you take photos of him.
