Don't waste your money. Hotel was ok, but the towns near it are garbage and don't be fooled by the "boardwalk" which was a few dive bars and crappy souvenir stand. The staff was very friendly, but the value was very bad.

The staff makes this place! It’s so beautiful and the location is great too! The beds are super comfy and the pillows are down! The front desk gals all helped us with every detail no matter how small and Jarvis at the pool bar makes a mean cocktail! I hated to leave!

This place is better in person! The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. The hotel is the nicest on the entire strip. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable. The beach is clean and very quiet. There is no better location in all of Placencia- you can walk everywhere from this hotel. I have no complaints at all! Placencia is a beautiful quiet little fishing village. Tons to see, great food, and wonderful people here.

This hotel is absolutely amazing! I was going to write a long review but I read Max E's review and he nailed it. My experience and comments about the hotel and surrounding village are exactly the same, honestly could not have said it any better myself. It it is available you definitely have to book this hotel, you will not be disappointed.

My girlfriend and I could not be more happy with our stay at the Ellysian. I truly believe it is the best hotel/resort to stay in all of Placencia and possibly Belize. I know this probably sounds fake or like an add for this hotel but I really am this in love with the hotel and recommend it to everyone.
First off, the facilities themselves are beautiful! Everything is kept extremely clean and beautifully furnished. The rooms are GIANT! We stayed in a non-ocean front room which we actually picked over the ocean front because they are bigger. Our room had a kitchenette and large living room space in addition to the large bedroom and huge bathroom. This hotel room was without a doubt larger than our NYC apartment back home. The beds and pillows are amazing, I wish I could take them home with me. They also have super fast wifi and full cable TV. I was able to stream Netflix without any issues.
The location could not be better. The Ellysian is right near the center of town, which means you can walk to everything. We tried a different restaurant every night for 7 nights and they were all amazing and within a 5 minute walk. It is also right next door to a perfect little breakfast/lunch spot as well as 2 of the best bars around - you must try the Tipsy Tuna and Barefoot Bar at least once during your stay. While other "all inclusive resorts" sounded appealing, they are all further north on the peninsula, which means you must take a taxi to everything. That means every night if you want to try a local restaurant, you must take a taxi EACH WAY. That adds expense and inconvenience.
Best of all, the people that work here are amazing. By the end of our stay, we felt like close friends with the hotel manager, Jerry. Jerry honestly made our trip by suggesting and booking all of our daily activities. We planned this trip last minute and did not book any activities or do much research before coming. I think if not for Jerry, we would not have done half of the amazing things we got to do on our trip.
In conclusion, there are not enough good things I would say about this hotel. The other hotels in town are a bit shabby, many of which lack air conditioning, wifi and many other creature comforts we are used to. The Ellysian is an oasis that makes staying in Placencia even nicer.response / report this review -
