March 2018 was our second visit to OTWDC. Six of us returned and brought 5 newbies with us. Everyone wants to go back again.
What a beautiful place! Jim, Kendra and all the staff were so friendly and welcoming. The resort is rustic, but we still felt pampered. The perfect vacation.
Off the Wall resort is an amazing place to swim, snorkel, scuba, kayak, and paddle board. The layout of the resort is beautiful and the owners and staff were very kind, caring people. Out time there with family was wonderful! MLK
Fantastic boutique resort! Picturesque island walkable from end to end in approximately less than 30mins. The island is shared by two resorts, off the wall being one while slickrock is the other. Off the wall is centered around scuba diving while wind sports are slickrock expertise. Off the wall is uniquely constructed with comfortable cabanas from which you can hear the waves crash on the beach throughout the night. At night the sky is lit bright with stars. Overall we had a wonderful stay. I should note that you will also have a wonderful stay if you do not mind the fact that the island does not have running water therefore showers may be colder than you are used to and the only washroom is an outhouse. But kayaks are available to discover the surrounding area and offers decent fishing grounds.
My wife and I were fortunate to visit Off the Wall for a second time this December (with a friend this time). Off the Wall is a true travel gem in an incredibly lovely location.
The resort is ideally located for a variety of ocean based activities with a shallow atoll on one side of the island (perfect for snorkeling and kayaking) and great diving along the barrier reef off the other side of the island. My wife was doing her first dive in the ocean after getting certified 2 years ago and Elora and Tyrone had her diving comfortably from the very first moment.
Another outstanding feature of Off the Wall is the hospitality of Jim and Kendra and the rest of the staff. The small group dynamic and graciousness of the hosts creates a very comfortable, family atmosphere you won’t get elsewhere. On our first visit, my 8 year old daughter helped Miss Eileen fish from the dock and then learned some of her cooking secrets in the kitchen. And playing games and trading stories late into the night with Mario has become a tradition spanning both of our visits.
The cabanas with great ocean side views along with hammocks and swing beds provide ample choices for how you want to rest and relax and appreciate the beauty of the world. At night, the lack of light pollution for 30 miles in any direction allows for clear views of the Milky Way and a seemingly infinite field of stars.
The food at Off the Wall is all freshly made by Eileen or Theresa and delicious. In my normal life I’ve never had much luck finding seafood I like but the fresh fish and conch I’ve had at Off the Wall were outstanding (my kids who never eat seafood even loved it).
Overall, Off the Wall has truly been one of the best travel experiences of our lives. After a week of experiencing it both times I have come home feeling years younger. As highly recommended as I can.
Accompanied friends who were returning for their second visit, and couldn’t have been happier with the people, location and experience. Jim and Kendra are wonderful hosts and all the of the staff were equally great. As a novice diver, I found their dive instructor (Elora) and Dive Master (Tyrone) and boat captain (Tony) extremely helpful in making my diving experiences stress-free and full of great memories. I would be delighted to return at the first opportunity.
Wow Kendra and Jim, Eileen, Tyrone, Junior, Mario, Charles and Bev, you outdid yourselves. This was THE best tropical vacation all nine of us have ever experienced. Your hospitality, attention to detail, lodging, accommodations, views, sunrises and sunsets, food, diving, fishing, humor (Jim’s enthusiasm and stories - monkeys and Buzzy the duck) were hilarious. Kendra is very gracious, engaging and fun to be with. Also, all of the staff had great respect for our privacy. Glovers Reef is a really good kitesurfing spot if you are self-sufficient. Smooth waters and long runs. More wind would have made kitesurfing even better, but even Kendra and Jim can’t control that. Junior knows bonefishing, so he was able to put us directly over the top of big bonefish schools. What fun to catch these screaming fish. Eileen’s cooking was something to drool over three times a day. The call of the Conch shell that food was ready got our immediate attention. All of us are divers and we weren’t disappointed. Tyrone will tell you, “ this is my first day as a divemaster,” but don’t believe it. He has been diving these waters for 10+ years and knows where all the things to see are hidden. If he spears a big lionfish, you may get lucky and taste it for dinner if an eel or a shark doesn’t eat it off his spear first. Really good. Mario is a card shark and will try to engage you in a game after dinner, so be careful. He is really good.
Thank you all. It was so hard to say goodbye and get back to reality. (Oh wait…that was reality.)
We had such a wonderful time in March 2017 for our family dive trip. Jim, Kendra and their staff were so welcoming and fun to be around, and the food was incredible! We looked forward to the announcement of each meal by the conch shell, and relaxing in the early morning sunrise by the sea with our coffee. Our bungalow was so cute with a deck and a view of the ocean, and the island had everything we needed. Don't expect long hot showers, as water needs to be conserved at all times, and we got used to quick, warm/cool showers. This never bothered us. We looked forward to the stars every night, they were so incredible (especially after finishing our night dive!) The ocean waves just lulled us to sleep. Aside from having enough time to read, relax, take naps, snorkel, eat, and enjoy our amazing island surroundings; diving was definitely a highlight that I'll never forget. Oh, and did I mention no cell phone reception (except for occasional wifi from the office location)? We enjoyed quality time and it felt rejuvenating to turn off our cell phones for a whole week and be in the present with loved ones. It was really the best time we've ever had on a island vacation. The pet duck Buzzy and the two adorable rabbits running around the island were quite entertaining. We were sad to leave, and also very lucky to have memories like that. I'm visualizing the aqua waters right now and wishing I was back there! Thanks again Jim and Kendra!
Jim and Kendra have an amazing set up! Picture yourself on their private island with ocean front rooms that are open and inviting. You can lull yourself to sleep with the sound of the waves and wake up to a beautiful sunrise over the yoga deck. Hard-working Eileen has an assortment of breakfast, lunch and dinner options so that no two meals are the same. After breakfast you can choose to dive or snorkel in the amazing turquoise waters or bring a kite board and catch some air. The scuba diving was world class on the second largest reef in the world! Kendra is so sweet and Jim is hilarious with his stories of monkeys and pet duck named "Buzzy!" I can't say enough about this place! We had such a wonderful time and would not hesitate to return!
We have found paradise..! Jim and Kendra are the most gracious hosts at this sublime resort on this beautiful atoll. As a family of divers and snorkelers, who have been all over the world, we could not have found a better place to go! The reef and coral outcroppings in and around Glover's Reef provide the most diverse and some of the best diving and snorkeling we've ever found! Our sixteen year old daughter became PADI certified there - the dive instructor Amy was outstanding! Our ten year old niece got her "Bubbler" certification as well and got to try her hand at SCUBA diving in the fish filled shallow reef area aptly called "The Aquarium". In the clear, warm 85 degree water, (no wet suit needed, even at 60+ feet) we dove with turtles, curious and friendly nurse sharks, huge spotted eagle rays, schools of tang and wrasse, chub and snapper. File fish, hog fish, trumpet fish, barracuda, angel fish, butterfly fishnot to mention the corals! The list is endless
The five comfortable South facing cottages were either at water's edge or just set back with a 180 degree view of the Caribbean Sea. At night, lying in your full size bed in a comfortably charming and well decorated cabin the waves on the coral strewn shore lulled you to sleep.
The staff were all wonderful, and the classic Belize home cooked meals (lots of yummy beans, rice and plantain to go with your meats and fish) were delicious. We had a few people with dietary restrictions in our group, and Kendra was very thoughtful and considerate about making sure their needs were met each meal.
Off the Wall Resort has a wonderful homey feel to it, right down to the pet ducks and 2 bunnies that loved sleeping under our chaise lounges during rain showers.
Our only regret on the whole trip was that we didn't book it for a week longer! Thank you Jim and Kendra and staff for a family trip that will remain one of our favorites for life! We'll see you again!
First thing I fell in love with is the aqua colors of the Atoll. I really enjoyed snorkeling among the close by coral reefs, that are so alive and healthy. Loved my cabana right on the ocean, kicking back in one of the hammocks and enjoying the view, and amazing stars after a full day. The meals were delicious, and the staff are wonderful. Off The Wall is one of the most Eco of Eco-resorts I have ever been to. A great place to really relax in nature. I find myself coming back year after year.
This small beautiful eco dive resort is truly sublime. Located on Long Caye, a 13 acre island with the best diving I have ever experienced, just a 5 minute boat ride from a 3000' deep coral sea wall. Friendly owners Kendra & Jim have created a unique vacation retreat with cozy ocean front cabanas, homestyle cooking, and wonderful staff. I enjoyed amazing diving, paddle boarding, kayaking, and snorkeling, and heard the fly fishing inside the lagoon, right off the beach is wonderful. On my last dive I swam with two nurse sharks, 4 turtles and a school of dolphins. This was not my first trip to Off The Wall, nor the last, I am already thinking of how soon I can return.
Amazing, diving and dive lessons were great, dive sites only a minutes boat drive away and island was idyllic
