My wife and I had a great stay at Mata Rocks for our honeymoon!

It had a great location on the beach with easy access to the rest of the island (just follow the beach north.)

The rooms were clean, cozy, and we particularly liked the management and Leo who mans the beachside bar.

If you should decide to stay at Mata Rocks I must implore you to make several dinner trips to Robin's Kitchen, which is located just across the street. Hands down the best food we had during our whole Belize stay! I would stay at Mata Rocks again simply to be close to Robin's.

We also recommend this cool pier bar just 10 min northward walk from Mata Rocks that has a big water slide and other amenities that guests can use all day for just $10 USD, while enjoying their drinks. You should be able to see the big slide from Mata Rocks. We highly recommend it.

Very friendly and helpful. We stayed 5 nights and had a great time. The island is designed for tourism, and cars are rare. Mata Rocks has golf carts and bicycles to loan. We did both. Excellent casual dining across the street and many fine dining establishments within walking distance. Staff will make whatever taxi arrangements you might need. The poolside is clean and inviting, beach towels available in the office. The small tiki bar serves fruit, breakfast bread, coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice in the morning. There is a dock and Belize Island Divers will pick up or drop off at the dock if you want to dive or snorkel. Enjoy your stay at Mata Rocks Resort!

If you're looking for a nice place to park overnight or for extended weekend, share some drinks with the owners/bartender, or just generally relax - Mata Rocks is your place. If you're looking to be pampered at an all-inclusive, keep looking.

Mata Rocks was just right for us - quaint, quiet, and worry free. The staff (Elliott, Leo, and Irma) was very friendly and took care of our few small requests. It's south of main South Pedro, but well within walking distance - we optioned to walk, bike (free) and rent a golf cart.

Not the hotel's fault, but the seaweed and wind was killer in February - heavy smell.

At the end of the day, Mata Rocks was a nice place to crash after a long day - primary demographic seemed to be 40-60 year olds and the bar at the hotel closes at 9pm daily - regardless, there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Just be sure to make a reservation at the larger ones.

Great resort and very helpful staff. All the rooms seem to have a great view of the water and makes for watching a great sunrise. We even saw dolphins in the morning. The grounds are well kept and there are iguanas around.

The Squirrels Nest is an amazing bar. Leo is awesome! Great place to start and unwind from your day. We met a lot of great people here and this is where they serve the small continental breakfast in the mornings. Coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice, toast and fresh fruit and an amazing view.

My friends and I booked a snorkeling excursion through the resort that picked us up from the resort's dock and we also were able to rent a golf cart for a day trip up to Secret Beach.

Overall, loved our stay!

I visited this hotel February 2017 plan to return in February 2018 for 17 days. The rooms are quite comfortable, particularly the beds. The hotel and grounds are maintained immaculately by a wonderful group of staff. It is the kind of place to meet folks from all over the globe and spend time getting to know them at the Squirrels Nest, the outside hotel bar right next to the ocean. I have visited Caribbean islands but this is where I found the ability to meet proud and friendly citizens of the picturesque island.

Just close enough to town to be convenient, but tucked about a mile south of the hustle and bustle at night (read: noise). It's clean, cozy, has spectacular views and a great beach bar. Service is impeccable; you'll feel like family on your first day here.

We just finished up our third stay at Mata Rocks. Already planning our fourth visit. Great location, great rooms, pool etc. The thing that stood out most this time was the new staff. Outstanding. From the manager all the way down to the groundskeepeers, friendly, service-oriented, and all around nice people. The smaller more intimate setting of this hotel, coupled with some of the best service anywhere makes this the ONLY place in San Pedro we will stay.

I love staying at Mata Rocks. This was my third visit and I was throughly impressed with the staff. From the moment we arrived Elliot welcomed us, and helped make all of our tour arrangements. Enrique was attentive and also a fabulous bartender. Nelson and Manuel were so friendly; they constantly made sure we were comfortable. I can't say enough to friends and family about how well we were treated by the whole Mata Rocks team. Thank you for making our trip so memorable- I will ever forget my experience!

Just returned a few hours ago from San Pedro (Ambergris Caye) and stayed at Mata Rocks. Nice location that was out of the hustle and bustle of the city center, but within walking /Go Cart distance.from all the action. The resort was as advertised.. quaint, clean, comfortable, with a friendly and attentive staff. We stayed in suite # 4 which came with a fridge, sitting area, and directly in front of the pool. We took advantage of the free continental breakfast, bikes (could be in better shape, but hey they were free!) and wi-fi. Mata does rock..
