  Don't usually comment, but this was next level: Owner added a 17-18% "tax" on agreed price when I was paying the bill, claiming that this was normal practice in Belize Later I found out that this is not true. The owner (Trish) scammed me. After speaking with the locals, I now understand that I actually was lucky they didn't steal my luggage as well.

  This place has it all.
  
  Overpriced
  Dirty
  Crazy owner
  Dogs barking till all hours in the morning (owners dogs not stray)
  Cockerell crowing from 4 am outside your bedroom window (which has no glass)

  The complete cultural Experience
  
  We only had planned to stay for one night, after extending for two more we were very sad to leave. Tricia the owner is a welcoming and loving person. Me and my friends became quickly part of the Kismet family.
  
  Helping them out with work around the house gave us an unique experience with the locals and their everyday live. If you want to experience Belize culture and everyday life make sure to stop by this crazy place.
  
  Come as a guest leave as family - a truly fitting motto to this establishment

  We enjoyed our stay at Kismet Inn very much. If you look for something different you'll be happy here. The owners Trish and Elvys are incredible nice people and a bit extravagant, which makes them even better.

  We didn't have a reservation and the walk from town was a but far but we had a lively stay and would return! Trisha is a hoot and super helpful! I loved the funky decor and being right on the beach was lovely, we could hear the waves from our room. The price was decent and fair, and the free bikes made bombing around Hopkins fun so long as you avoided the potholes!

  I loved the owner and really enjoyed all of her artwork around the property. The place is a very quaint little beach bungalow. She really goes out of her way to accommodate guests and her food is some of the best vegetarian I've had! Something different every night! I even injured my foot and she provided medical supplies for free. I stayed with a friend in a private room with a shared bathroom. It really was the best price in town. With lots of hammocks right on the beach, you just can't beat it. It's super relaxed, with an anything-goes sort of vibe. There are lock boxes in the rooms for safety, though I never felt the need to use them, and you can refill any size water bottle for $1 Belize. She offers breakfast, lunch and dinner for a reasonable price. The use of bicycles is free anytime. And she can arrange tourist trips for you, as well. I highly recommend checking out the jaguar sanctuary and waterfall about thirty minutes down the road if you're a hiker. I would love to stay here again and hope to return soon! !

  Kind of baffled by the other reviews. We found this to be a really authentic experience. The hotel is quite rustic and very charming, everything has a very handmade vibe and you can tell Trish puts a lot of effort into making it more than just a place to stay. Her dinners are outstanding. Her conversation is engaging and easy going. The guys who were there working for her, local garafunas, we're all very nice and speaking with them was a pleasure. A real insight into Belize outside of the normal tourist experience where everything is catered to foreigners and seems like a whitewash of the actual way life goes down here.
  
  To say Trish is crazy is just plain rude. Eccentric? Perhaps. But lovely. Interesting people are rarely normal and Tricia came off as genuine, authentic and truly caring about others. We camped here in our Volkswagen Bus and would have stayed longer if we didn't have other plans to be in San Ignacio. Give this place a chance, it's the most affordable from Hopkins to Placencia, and you won't be disappointed.

  Visited here July 2016. I loved it. It's right on the beach with nice swimming. No Sea Grass!! The hotel is nothing fancy. If you are looking for a fancy hotel with lots of amenities, this isn't the place for you. The owner Trish is a really nice person. She was always there for good conversation or to give some helpful information on Hopkins Village. Every morning she had a pot of fresh coffee on and would make pretty much any kind of food you wanted for breakfast. Dinners were fresh fish and lobster, delicious pork chops, and a delicious shrimp pasta! She arranged for a snorkeling trip to the islands with a included lunch that was awesome. I will definitely be back!
