A spectacular resort with laid-back Belizean owners and staff, almost everyone is family! The cooking was exceptional and excursions delightful. Many tourists like to visit Tikal ruins from here, however I would recommend saving that for a trip to Guatemala, visit Caracol instead! It's among the largest ruins you can visit and also in Belize, so no customs or exit tax. All in all the family here was great and I would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for an active vacation.

The Tut family has a wonderful place in Cristo Rey. The long driveway takes you down to the the main complex. The facility is very nice; the dining area, grounds, and the whole family helps you to have a relaxed experience the Tut brothers (Eric and Andy) are excellent bird guides! If you are looking for a locale away from the hustle and bustle but with access to local birding, archeological sites, and standard tours, you’ll like this place!

We found bugs in the beds of the rooms while on a student trip. There is no ac and it can be very difficult to sleep.

This is a great base camp for checking out ruins, caves, birding, and hiking in the San Ignacio area. The resort offers dinner every night, self-serve drinks in a large common area, and a few hiking trails. The plumbing can be a little sketchy (though that is true of a lot of places in Belize, if you're a tourist), but otherwise the cabanas are clean and comfortable.

The resort also provides tours through Paradise Expeditions that include drivers, tour guides, lunches, and more - I personally enjoyed the Macal River canoeing, ATM, and Barton Creek Cave trips a lot. Most guests were here specifically for birding, and several tours focus on that.
