The hotel is located in the heart of the city, just next to the clock tower. Walking distance from many important places like the Indian embassy, local immigration office, sight seeing spots and eating outlets serving Indian, Chinese and Bhutanese menu etc. It's a 3 star hotel with beautiful rooms which have wooden flooring. The bathroom has a shower and a bathtub as well with hot and cold water. The hotel has all the basic facilities like a restaurant, room service, laundry , limited parking etc. All the rooms are twin bedded, however the two beds can be joined to make a king size bed. Stayed in room#309, and it has a beautiful view overlooking the mountains and the Buddha statue. Would recommend the hotel for stay in Thimphu.

One phrase "Great Hotel". I was really happy with the quality of the rooms as well as service at hotel Gakyil. The price of the double bed room was Rs 2500 per night (online booking). The facilities provided were among the best hotels. The location of the hotel is at the center of the city. They serve you complementary green tea on your arrival. I will definitely recommend it if someone stays in Thimphu for a couple of days or so.

Really great hotel for this cheap. The food's also great a little a expensive though. But the best part is the service. It really is amazing how concern they are about their guests. The location's also great. It's near the clock tower which is infact attractive.
