Fertility Temple visited by couples . Extremely popular with locals and visitors
Temple of prosperity where couples come and pray for the blessings of the divine mad man to have children. Fables and folk tales many about the prowess of the divine mad man, and centuries have not diminished his influence or stature in Bhutan.
Also known as fertility temple of Bhutan, one need to do a simple plane hiking of around 20 min to reach here. All the hiking way to this temple is very beautiful, with paddy corps field, big mountains all around. Reaching on the temple also its very peaceful and natural. many legendary stories are related top this place . All temples in Bhutan are almost same with Buddha and his disciples statues and Pictures related to their stories.
The temple stands on a round hillock. The monastery is the repository of the original wooden symbol of phallus that was brought from tibet. A temple dedicated to fertility.
Small trek through the village is very beautiful.
Must visit.
Lots of interesting stories associated with the deity. Must have a guide to enjoy the visit to temple.
Chimi Lhakhang literally means Chi - Dog, Mi - No, lhakhang - temple. No dog temple name given by Lama Drukpa Kuenley in 15th century.
A temple built on a mound where Lam Drukpa Kuenley aka Divine Madman subdued a demon who tried to escape from his spiritual wrath. Don't go with your family members. You can find numerous graffiti on its way.
The famous Chili Lhakhang temple where blessings are given to people looking to conceive - it is famous for it's powers to cure infertility!
My favorite Lhakhang/temple in Bhutan, great stories and legends behind it. Its a nice walk up the hill and the valley to get there. And of course it's the place for all of the phallus souvenirs you could possibly want.
Oct 2017. A temple to visit to ask for protections from all harm and danger. Located on a small hilltop. After the temple visit, can walk through the rice fields and witness the rice harvesting and a beautiful sunset. The walk should be done during early morning just after sunrise or evening just before sunset, otherwise it will be sunburning.
We went there around 9am .. it was like a trekking to reach there. Path is somewhere muddy but easy to walk. No stiff hiking is there. It require 1 hour minimum to reach and come back. Inside photography is not allowed and no such view is present from surroundings. If you believe or want to have some trekking visit there..
Good temple after a long walk
The temple is so beautiful and fresh
My village I love my village..my village is so beautiful.
Pleasant hike through local villages. Tell your guide to drop you a little further away so you can walk through padi fields and villages. You get a neat snapshot of local life. Drukpa Kunley is an interesting character within the Tibetan Tradition and there are interesting legends of him. Take time to read up on it
