I went in late January (full high season) and was still able to get a bed the day I arrived in Rio. The staff are sort friendly. Rooms and facilities are well kept, and there is even a fully equipped (clean) kitchen if you wish to cook. Otherwise, there are literally dozens of restaurants and bars within 2-3 blocks, so you can get a meal or a drink and just walk back to the hostel. The Metro is only a couple of blocks away too. Oh, and the breakfast they serve daily includes a wide variety of options which will even cater for vegans! Best of all, incredibly cheap. Highly recommended!

Fun hostel with a bar/restaurant directly on the street. We chose it due to the location (close to Metro) and had a nice stay in a small but comfortable private room with an en suite bathroom overlooking the bar. Most of the staff were not well versed in English but very helpful.

It's a great Hostel with very nice crew. Usually there are events that gather foreigners and local people in order to exchange ideas and practice languages. I recommend it.
