The hotel has couple of floors which are renovated, which are okay. Overall it looks very rundown, especially the floors which are not renovated and also the breakfast area. But it has some amazing view over the city and it is very centrally located. I have been to Jokers, a club in the hotel, which is one of the few places where the no smoking ban is actually in place and it is pretty nice place to be.

Recently renovated. Looks amazing. The piano bar at the top floor is one of the best social places to go if you want to party.

The hotel has been revamped recently, and the rooms are quite nice. I'm in a deluxe room, so I can't speak for others but I'm pleased with it.

Things to note:

1. The air conditioning is controlled by a remote control that you'll find in your room. It worked very well once you figure it out.

2. In Europe you put your room key (card) into a slot on the wall for the electricity to work. When you go in your room you'll see the slot by the door. Just drop in your key and that turns everything on (the air conditioning continues to work while you're out, thankfully).

3. This hotel was built in the Soviet era and there's some things about it that come from that. And can't be easily fixed. For example, the elevators are tiny and slow and hot. Not a big deal, but after a 33 hour trip to get here I was worried. Don't worry.

It was an OK hotel and the view from the restaurant on the top (15th floor) was lovely, both in the evening bar and the morning breakfast. The bathroom was a bit weird but otherwise the room was adequate. The service in the bar left something to be desired, there was confusion with the staff if we should be paying entrance fee or not and what they told us seemed to contradict the signage.

It is a typical 4 star hotel. Nothing bad. Rooms are clean except balcony due to buildings age. But good hotel for its charge.
