Wonderful little place. Enjoyed the food and service.
I got the Carbonnade and I loved the fries on this plate - solidly comparable to any frituur on the street. The beef was fatty and soft to the knife, I loved it and the beer based gravy. However for 15 Euros, I would have expected at least one more medallion of beef. Service is also really good here. Definitely worth a visit for Belgian cuisine.
We went for traditional Belgian food and we were not disappointed. The dishes were delicious and priced fairly.
On my first visit I had a really good meal. The portions are a bit small, but sufficient. The service was friendly, but they missed one of the orders at our table, so that person had to wait an extra 15 minutes for her food. But everyone was satisfied in the end, and I'll be back here for sure.
Forget about Belgian fries, waffles or chocolate. If you are in Brussels and you don't visit this place, you would have missed the most delicious food and friendliest people ever. Sorry I didn't take photos before I ate my meal, but this is how good it is
Good food, friendly staff and good service
Friendly staff, great food and beer, down to earth, and with good options for pretty much everyone. Veggie Burger and Fish & Chips were both super. Anywhere else this would have been full of hipsters, here it just seemed to work and be comfortable, despite being a bit loud.
Good food, beer and attention.
English lang support.
Lovely bar. The food is good there.
Hard to believe in the positive reviews. We were looking for a place to have a break after visiting Manneken Pis and the misleading high rating of Café Novo attracted us to it. The place was quite dirty, especially the toilets that had strong smell of urine, that invaded part of the restaurant. Food and drinks seemed overpriced . We ordered two camomile teas, instead came a spicy infusion tea bag in a beer glass cup (they don't even have mugs for tea). Not the wors place ever, but definitely not a 3.9 stars (as the time of the writing).
Lovely hot chocolate and nice atmosphere.
The prices at Cafe Novo are exaggerated!! 15 euros for a mediocre salad with nothing in it!! literally, only the green leaves which cost nothing, it was not organic or anything either. Then there was the vegetarian burger, not a single slice of tomato, or any green leaf even for decoration. The vegetarian burger was sad really, nothing a vegetarian would want to eat, because they had tried their best to make the thing look and taste like meat, when the last you want is meat when you're vegetarian!!!
What a shame, moreover as soon as we talked to the waiter about the problem, he became very defensive and instead of applying the basic customer service skills, he started yelling at us, forgetting that we were actually customers!!! Would not recommend it at all! Don't waste your money there
