Good building from outside. But hard if you bring lugage. They only have stair. Kitchen-chill room was in different floor. So not easy access. Room is good

Can’t complain at much because of the price. Here are some pros and cons anyway.
Pros: cheap, powerful showers, wide comfy-enough beds, great location, 24 hour check in desk and good air con (though can get v cold).
Cons: Thin walls, quite dirty kitchen and facilities, had to make own beds on arrival which was not ideal when we arrived at 2:30am and couldn’t see a thing, terrible WiFi, can’t bring in own alcohol (due to their license) and no recycling bins.

Nice big rooms with high ceilings. Very cold air con at night. Massively let down by the kitchen. Such a hassle to use plates / cutlery etc. Have to give a $10 deposit for a set of 1 plate 1 bowl and 1 knife and fork. All of which come in a weird plastic zip lock folder that gets condensation from people washing the stuff and putting it straight in. Kitchen was really disgustingly dirty at dinner time too. Not the hostels fault but was much worse than other hostels so maybe they need to police it more? If you are not bothered about cooking though, a good hostel.

Would've given a 4 star as good prices, showers are hot with good power, rooms have aircon and friendly staff at reception, but the beds we stayed in had bedbugs. Also had to make own beds when arriving which isn't ideal although it is a huge hostel so would take the staff a lot of time. Rooms are good enough but nothing fancy. Seemed a pretty social place but wasn't staying for long. Parking is on road outside, paid from 8am-6pm Mon-Sat

This is surely a place for backpackers! I recently went to Perth, where I was looking for an affordable accommodation with good ambiance when I came across The Old Swan Barracks. The place offers a lovely stay with friendly staff, ample facilities, nice locality and welcoming atmosphere. Can’t resist to mention that the food here is absolutely delicious! I personally recommend this place to those who seek a lovely, comfortable stay in the city.

Great location! Very close to the train station/restaurants/shops and the price was reasonable. The bar/communal area is large and there’s plenty of space for everyone. **However, the hostel needs a serious makeover as it is rundown and has basic facilities.

Everything is good, they just need to install stairs for the double decker beds.

It's dangerous to do some climbing stunts in the night when lights are off if you got the upper bed

Really nice staff who help you out a lot. But the rooms weren't too clean, the facilities were fairly limited and not very comfortable. Lots of spider webs around the windows. Still worth a night or two if you're not looking to stay long term

Service was great, and the location is fantastic. Facilities are sufficient (about as expected and appropriate for budget accommodation), everything was clean and tidy, and mostly in good repair. The hostel includes a huge common room with a small bar and a furniture layout to handle several groups at once (not that you stay in a hostel this close to the CBD to hang out in the hostel). Excellent value, in my opinion.

Service was absolutely wonderful; all of the staff that I met were friendly and hospitable. The entire hostel was clean. One down side was having to put a deposit down for your room key and dishes for the breakfast in the morning. It was in a great, central location, and I'd love to go back one day. I had a great time!

Horrendous horror experience at this hostel between 3 April and 5 April 2011. I stayed at this hostel for 5 days between 1 April and 5 April 2011 with Irish backpackers. Perhaps it was 3 April 2011 I had dinner and fell asleep. It was a deep sleep as if I was en route hell with a Gothic horrific, terrorizing devil dragging me with his rope tied as death knot around my neck. I don't remember how long was I asleep but I began trembling and shivering conversing and arguing with this devil to leave me alone. But, when the devil refused to budge to my persistent request, I began chanting Hindu Gayatri Mantra in self-defence vociferously. When I woke up shocked with that trauma, I found my Irish roommates flabbergast with what they witnessed. I was shocked in horror that I forgot to ask them what they saw that night. I felt that hostel was haunted because I knew of ghost activities in the city of Perth thanks to Akash Patel, my former Australian housemate, introducing me with details about a haunted house in the suburb of Crawley in Perth near The Swan River when we lived together at Unit 9, 149 Fairway, Crawley, Western Australia, Australia. Until Akash told me about haunted houses in Perth, I never knew, enquired, and/orbdiscussed about Ghosts in Perth or any other supernatural activities around the world. Akash Patel was deft in voodoo of Jabalpur. He volunteered to make me knowledgeable about black magic. I never used or use or will use voodoo spell on anybody. Akash shared U.S. TV series Supernatural illegally downloaded videos from Torrent that his cousin Mihir Patel got him. Until then, I was oblivious to Ghosts, spirit, and black magic. It's such a pathetic experience that I endured because of Akash Patel who misused my knowledge and skills to disgorge me from Australia and himself become an Australian citizen. Today, he's married to his Gujarati wife and lives happily in Australia as gifted black magician with full knowledge of Australian Government. He is a highly skilled employed rich Australian while I suffer in India unemployed since forced to return to India in January 2011. Akash controls Indian and Australian politics from his Aam Aadmi Party Arvind Kejriwal Australian headquarters. Weird, but true! It's up to readers to believe this or not because I never dabbled into Australian and Indian politics let alone getting serious with trying my fortune with politics of either nation. All I remember is I expressed orally to Akash Patel at a wooden bench outside UWA's School of Mechanical Engineering on one late night when he took me for an after dinner walk that I would love to become an Australian citizen when I am legally eligible to become one. The truth is I returned to India as Australian Permanent Resident while Akash Patel became Australian citizen when he genuinely wished to return to India after he successfully finished his Master of Oil and Gas Engineering. Incredible, Indian-Australian Gujju Patel! Hats off to you Akash Patel, your family, your friends, your mates, your batchmates, and Governments of India and Australia for jointly pulling off victory from my life torturing me for your to achieve excellent lives for yourselves! Congratulations!

Staying here at the moment and it's nice. Building has character but its a little bit older, but just fine for a budget hostel. Only 1 hour wifi per day in 2017? Atmosphere is Ok, there's a bar but not too many people here. Quiet in the room and there is free air con in the rooms! Not a bad place to stay.

Old, dingy, loud, and a little sad. This place isn't a great value, and it's pretty well exemplified with a $10 deposit for towels of which only half is refunded after check out. I could have bought a towel that hadn't already graced the bodies of countless backpackers. Seemed like they had their share of long term residents as well.

Great location though.

I like the place. Really helped me when in the midnight i was looking for the place i stay and they open 24hr.
Close to the city!
The room is small but fair enough for the price.
The bathroom is clean.
The staffs were helpful
and I forgot and left my souvenir bag in the room and just realized 1 week after i checked out. When i contacted the hostel, they found my bag and gave back to me!!
