I have a real like/hate relationship with this place. It's close to home (so I'm biased) but also I really like the staff, the vibe, the live music.

The kitchen, though - killing me! Most of the menu is "a bit" to "a lot" over-priced for the quality. My main gripe, though, is the mash. I like mash and dislike chips. I know that if I order a steak/schnit special, anywhere, I'll be charged extra for mash, fine. But this kitchen (which appears to operate separately) charges $4 for the mash change. Ouch. But on top of that, it's not just on Special Night. I've ordered full priced meals and still been charged $4 to replace chips with mash. And if you think that's no big deal, check out my photo to see how much mash $4 gets you.

I like you, Lomond. I really do. But this mash situation has driven a wedge between us! I have a chip on my shoulder, I admit it. If you weren't so close I'd probably see ya 'tater.

Gobsmacked. Effervescent. Rambunctious. A few of the feelings I experienced during my evening tenure at the Lomond Hotel. What a tour-de-force of beverage-imbibing, a lucid powerhouse of raw experience. I highly recommend this establishment.

The Lomond Hotel is a Brunswick tradition. An affordable range of quality meals and most nights there is high quality music for free. I have been going there for over twenty years and recommend it as a night out to my friends.

Cozy pub most nights of the week with a nice quiet dining room. The front bar packs out on Friday evening when live bands play. There is a cute beer garden around the back, some unambient street seating on busy Nicholson St or the porch where smokers usually go. Food is good and not too expensive. Monday nights you can get a pint of bee for $8.
There is a TAB gaming room which you can easily ignore as it is separated from the rest of the pub and there's also a drive through bottle shop.

One of the old school pubs that hasn't lost its charm. Good beers, great bands, traditional pub meals, weird addition of buttered white bread with the oysters was hilarious, but friendly staff and nice atmosphere.

Loved the live music and cosy surrounds. It is a no frills pub with a friendly atmosphere. Dining room is a bit fancier but good variety of pub meals available in general bar. Quaint and easy to find as it is the next to the last stop using tram 96.
