Customer service always trumps food quality. Arrived 15 minutes late for reservation and the girl at reception gave us 'the attitude' stating "15 minutes late guys". I mean we're glad to suffer for being late which we did as we had to wait. But we're customers, not high school students attending class. We're not there to get a lesson from the staff. The main point is there's absolutely no necessity to that statement. We know we're late - we're already late. How about providing a proper greeting and a solution instead of an unnecessary comment. Staff in the parking area also didn't let us choose parking spots. Food tastes good, looks fancy, red velvet was too sweet. Rating largely based on service. YMMV.
My boyfriend took me there in surprise and I couldn't like it anymore! It's a place with a lot of charm and different from others. It has its own style. On weekends there are a lot of people so it's better to go during the week if you want to be calmer. The food looks very good although it's somewhat expensive. One of the things that I really like are the little animals, I didn't expect them to have a mini farm! It's a place you have to visit!
Missed the breakfast menu, so decided to have lunch. The burger was great with good spuds and a nice sesame bun and beef patty. The noodle bowl with pesto chicken was also good, though the serving of chicken was a bit sparse. The side polenta chips were excellent. I would recommend the breakfast menu. Going on a Saturday or Sunday is also recommended as the little shops are open, giving even more of a small market authentic feel and vibe. The garden shop and teas on offer were amazing with great nostalgic airtight tea tins that I will likely go back just to buy. There was also a wood fired pizza shop on the grounds that I have yet to try. Will add more as I experience it again. Highly recommended.
Such a magical place to eat out and spend a sunny weekend morning! Food and coffee is amazing! There is so much food to buy as well (mini cakes, pastries, fresh bread, fresh juices etc). Only downside is that is gets super busy!
Lovely place for brunch, if you can take the wait! We ate at the cafe and the queue was about an hour (got here at 10+ and were seated at 11+, for a table of 6). Other eating options include buying from stalls with free seating outside, and the potting shed.
The cafe had great coffee with interesting deconstructed drinks (like mocha). Beef ribs were outstanding. Tender juicy meat falling off the bone with a rich glaze. Complemented well with bearnaise sauce. The avocado toast and omelette were also lovely. The fresh herb garnishes were refreshing. The service was generally great too and we had an attentive and friendly waiter.
The vibe of this place is great with a rustic feel and a busy, lively atmosphere. Live guitar performances and attractive market stalls. The kids loved looking at and feeding the animals too! A pig, goats and chickens.
I agree with some of the reviews. You go there more for the atmosphere and vibes, open spaces and beautiful gardens. Food is good but not my first choice for breakfast or lunch. They are better with parking but still is a hassle during the weekend. Some of the desserts and cakes look and taste delish!
The restaurant is really beautiful, atmosphere is great and it is a must visit. Just i will HIGHLY HIGLY recommend not to order any food as it is VERY ORDINARY and will ruin the experience for you. The swordfish is plain with no flavor and steak is tough.
I would recommend that just order coffee and $9 bread and enjoy the atmosphere n go home happy.
I went there for the first time this week with a couple of friends. We tried a few drinks, both of the alcoholic and regular variety, and has the fried cauliflower with manchego and seaweed - nothing to complain about.
It was a weekday and late afternoon, and so we found the place quite uncrowded. Which was brilliant, as we manage to get a lot of beautiful photos with minimum human interruption. The place is really pretty, it cannot be denied! Lots of plants and really great styling, both indoors and outdoors!
I will be back (possibly on another weekday) to try their famed coffee, and food. Fluffy, the macaw, was definitely the highlight of my visit as she climbed onto my hand and from there to my shoulder, making me so very happy!
Really great atmosphere! You go for the good vibes rather than the food. Food was tasty but not amazing. Nothing to write home about. There's also a huge pig named Kevin Bacon in a penned off area. The kids loved him
I love The Grounds. The food is consistently nice, the atmosphere is amazing, and the marketplace is so cute. The animals and gardens are just gorgeous. You definitely want to get there early or you'll have a 45+ minute wait for a table, which is alright if you want to wander around the markets while you wait. It's pricey but a fun experience and worth it. The vegetarian options are a bit slim, but you can edit other menu items for a nice meal - I highly recommend the mocha if you get the chance to eat in.
Considering how popular and busy this place is, the service was incredible. We had to line up, however they give you a buzzer so you can walk around the farm/market area. Great atmosphere generally for both couples and families.
Meals: Brought out at the same time.
Played: Cleared at the same time.
Service: Incredible and quick.
Recommendations: Signature avocado on toast with a poached egg and bacon on the side. The coffee tasting tray is also a really nice touch for the coffee lovers out there.
One of the best places in Sydney for breakfast, brunch or lunch. Lot of coffee selection and food is excellent. Very busy all the time, really like the area as includes a small farm, market, florist. Price are higher than average.
Wonderful area - lovely decor - would recommend.
Do not come here if you are in a hurry, you'll be missing-out and leave disappointed due to the sometimes long waits.
All the food is excellent and would recommend a milkshake! :)
It was great to visit, definitely a place to visit if you are in the area. Beautiful areas of the place to capture in the morning when it's not too busy yet. The later you are, you're lucky to get a table in the restaurant!
The seat is awesome too, however the letterbox the prints out your photo wasn't working when we went, so we were a little let down we couldn't bring something back from the beautiful place, but other than that, amazing!!
This place is super busy. Really good area for kids and farm animals to keep them entertained. Food is good. Coffee is great. Ice coffee came deconstructed. Looks fancy but it's ice coffee at the end of the day. Breakfast options are good as well. Get there before 9am to get a good seat.
