Finally we have good Indian in Balmain again, a long time coming after retirement of the amazing Indian Palace a few years back (replaced by NJC). We have tried the Colonial about 5 times now and had consistent good quality, tasty takeaway. The British Fish Curry is superb. There’s a family meal deal on Uber eats which is good value for Indian food (not full range available tho).

Dang! I was looking forward to dinner here next week - and then when I go to book you can only have the table for 90 minutes. Seriously??? That's fine for lunch - but nowhere near enough time for a nice relaxing chilled dinner. What a disappointment! I would have thought in this Covid times you would be doing more to encourage locals to support your business.

We have had takeaway from here once before and tonight we visited the restaurant with our neighbors who have also had only takeaway before. The service was poor and inattentive and it took ages to get attention of staff.

Menu here is limited but good and, good bit of vegan stuff on the menu as well. Food was great and had a good level of spicing with good heat which I loved. The fish curry was great as was the beef curry. Samosa starter was average and dessert was disappointing. But the most disappointing was the service. We waited for a good 15 mins before anyone showed up and subsequently no one really bothered to come to the table to check if we wanted anything more. That was really frustrating leading to my score. Good food is a pre-requisite but it does not make up for poor service.

Ambience is ok but with people coming and leaving constantly made it look like a takeaway rather than a fine dining restaurant they espouse to be. At these prices I expect more.

I really enjoyed the food and was better than the takeaway last time. With good service this place can be fabulous.

Really excellent takeaway experience; fish curry and baigan patiala were excellent. Fragrant and spicy, without being greasy and generous portion sizes. Naan, pickles and sides all great too, and they offer a discount if you spend more than $50.

This is the Indian food we have been waiting for in Balmain/ Inner West.. Such an improvement to the previous venue and really great Indian food from our first experience.. Can’t say enough about this place finally bringing quality back to where it should be. Very happy they are in Balmain, definitely get on board if you are local and keep them around.
