We dropped in here on our way to the Grampians after falling in love with the wine as part of a mixed dozen. St Ignatius makes fantastic wine and they give a warm and friendly welcome to you at the cellar door. Sylvia shares her knowledge and passion for winemaking and it’s easy to get swept up in her story. Unfortunately they don’t offer food at the venue anymore, but it’s still very worth your while to stop in!

Visited for the wines in 2013, the 2012 Shiraz is now drinking superbly.

I love St. Ignatius; WE love St. Ignatius! This is a true family run operation, and the passion, love and dedication to their craft continues, and we can certainly attest to that. In late 1996, perhaps 97? we visited St Ignatius for the first time and loved their wines. Our first son had been born not 3-4 months earlier. We left him with his grandparents in nearby Beaufort and went for a drive and found St. Ignatius. It was our first time away from our boy, so we didnt forget it. Over the years we purchased more of their wine from a retailer in Ballarat, but we returned to the winery in 2016, and thats when we realised, it had been 20 years! 20 years since our last visit. Silvia was there, as she was in 96/97, and took us thru some fantastic wines. As an assistant winemaker myself I could truly understand what it takes for a family run operation to put out wine like this. Absolutely wonderful wine. I am drinking the 2014 Contemplations Reserve Shiraz as we speak, kept under cork, and a lip smacking 15%. A delightful piece of steak, and a wonderful colourful italian salad. Heaven. If you are heading for the Victorian Pyrenees/Avoca area, pop in. Shiraz, Cab, Malbec, Chardy, and a delightful Beaunois, worthy of tasting. Enjoy!

We went to the winery's Sunday lunch, and it was a great day. Food was honest and humble, and felt very good. The family running the winery have you a feeling of genuine hospitality.
