Wonderful restaurant at the top end of Bourke Street. I excellent Italian food with an impressive wine list. The service was friendly, efficient and not intrusive; a rare balance. The growth and development of this traditional decades-old Melbourne venue is a pleasure to experience. Take your friends and have a great night at The Society!

For a restaurant, consistency matters. And as a reviewer, one cannot give a verdict based on just one experience, usually. My experience with Society Restaurant has been okay, mostly leaning towards good. Food and ambiance is often good and I can't complain much about service too. These guys work hard and we never know what they go through during the day dealing with variety of customers. A little bit more service attitude would be great though.

The one Star was solely for the waitress who served us, she was polite, friendly and very attentive.

I ordered the lamb shoulder and can say without hesitation that it was one of the worst meals I have ever had. It was under cooked, had no flavor, the portion was tiny and the plate was decorated so as to take away from the fact that their was barely anything actually on it.

My girlfriend ordered the Salmon and commented that even I could have done a better job. This is really saying something considering I set the smoke alarm off almost every time I cook.

Don't be fooled by the stylish decor and elegant plate preparation, this place has zero substance.
