It's average, it's loud. They just haven't nailed the cosiness that makes atmosphere work. When there's nobody here it's amazing, great views of the beach from the windows, but outdoors it's often heavily shaded making it uncomfortable in cooler months. Food is ok. It's all ok, but other restaurants in the area I feel beat it.

Build your own breakfast was a winner. Later we came back for cakes and great coffee. We look forward to our next visit. Can be busy but seating is never a problem .

Beautiful views on the water and excellent service. Our meals were served promptly and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Great stop after a morning walk on the beach.

Being right on the water's edge, this cafe has great views and is just perfect for breakfast, brunch, lunch or simply a coffee or beer or glass of wine. I have to say the food is good with a limited but reasonable range to choose from, and the coffee, excellent. It's not a large place but does have a deck area out the back which is great if you have kids as they can play in the sand right ion front of your very eyes. It's great on weekdays but more than often packed on Saturdays and Sundays but, given it's beach side location, I guess that's to be expected. It's a great location for private functions such as birthdays, corporate dos and even wedding ceremonies and cocktail and hot and cold canapes type receptions. Main downsides for me are (1) you have to order at the counter, (2) the place is a bit noisy, and (3) while it opens at 8am, it closes early, 4:30pm on weekdays and 5pm on weekends. Tip: If you're driving then park on the opposite side of Beaconsfield Parade where it's 4-hour parking. Another option is to take the tram on route 12 and get off at stop 136 on the corner of Danks and Mill Street.

Good coffee with a view of the beach and blankets provided if chilly. What more could you want. Food on the expensive end, but you pay for the view/atmosphere.

Visiting Melbourne?. This is a fantastic place to right on the waters edge. Have coffee or buy one of the many delicious hot or cold food items sitting in a nicely furnished cafe by very nice people. "A Must Visit"

One of the best breakfast in Melbourne along beach side. Lovely atmosphere. Food taste is nice. Staff is friendly. Reasonable price. Must visit place.

Nice view of the beach. Food was ok, but service was way below average. Waiter showed no interest and care in delivering food. Disappointing on what could have been an excellent brunch.

View is to be expected on a nice day, however like a lot of tourist places, the quality of food and service wanes with the knowledge of limited repeat customers. Sandbar would benefit from a) full-service table service, b) parity between price and quality.
