Great visit, but a long walk. I enjoyed to zoo in canberra very much. But it is good to know it is a long walk with hills for the less mobil. You can hire mobility scooters for a deposit and $5 per hour. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

We loved the National Zoo and Aquarium - we spent the whole day there and the kids had a great time. You can take your own picnic or there is a cafe to buy food (and ice cream!) There are lots of keeper talks and feeding times to learn about the wildlife - we saw so many animals up close. When the kids are a bit older we will definitely be back to experience the overnight options and the animal encounters. Highly recommended!

the size of zoo was very manageable with my 2 little kids. The cafe near entry was also reasonably priced. Only wished the staff would have informed us to book the feeding and encounter with animals at the entry, so we would not miss the opportunity for kids to have a better unforgettable experience.

Excellent establishment with a large diverse collection of animals. Each enclosure is large and well maintained with the animals having the best care money can buy. Easy walking track and different rest areas throughout make the zoo a great place to spend the day

Absolutely beautiful ~ Easy access for those that have disabilities or elderly. Shaded areas to walk through. Can get up close to the animals and staff happy to help with any questions. Highly recommend a visit.
Can take own food and drinks as there are shaded eating area's throughout.

My husband and I love the zoo. They have opened up a whole new section since we last visited with zebra, antelope, rhinos, and more. We also got to see the baby meerkat triplets who were adorable! It was a great experience as always. Packing lunch is recommended though as there are not a lot of options are the zoo cafe.

Really wanted to visit The zoo so took holidays to Canberra. The staff we spoke to were all really lovely, the animals (that we saw) look loved and well looked after. Left a bit disappointed with an upset little girl as she missed out on seeing so much due to a lot of the animals being around the lodges/hotels where other zoo guests can't see them. Also told we couldn't have a giraffe encounter as it isn't available on a weekday. Would definitely recommend if in the area to check it out but not to travel especially to see it like we did.

Easy to get to. Plenty of parking, take a hat and your own water on hot days, only a small canteen style cafe attached to a gift store, so perhaps a picnic lunch as well. One of the nicest Zoo's I've been to.

Good for a day trip , nice location and good sized parking area. Decent sized enclosures for the animals. Loved the White lions. We went on a tour and fed the animals, staff were informative and friendly . Highly recommend the tour. Aquarium was a surprise for us, wasn't expecting it to be of this good.

Great zoo, good selection of animals to see. Emu's, kangaroos, lots of lions and snow leopards, a giraffe, penguins, meerkats. One piece of advice is to make sure you bring your own food as the cafe is very limited. Even pies were average at best.
Can easily spend 2-3 hours here as the place is deceptively quite big!

Easy location, good parking area. The Zoo is big, there are many animals, which seems to be well treated and have good quality of life. It is not the best zoo that I've been in Australia, but it's worth the visit.
Good program to do while in Canberra.
There's also the 5 stars cabin (apartments) where you can spend the night with the company of a Giraffe, Bear or Lion.

The family had a fantastic time at the National Zoo and Aquarium. Plenty of shade along the paths and picnic areas. The enclosures appear to be clean and large enough for the animals. Staff were polite and knowledgeable. The $3 sausage sandwiches kept the kids happy at lunch. Don't mind paying $110 for a family ticket when it is obvious that the money is spent on the animals.
