In contrast to everywhere else in Australia, this actually is a short walk to the shops. Lovely pool and beach as well.
At first it seemed the place was amazing, but it didn't last very long with that impression.
Rooms where relatively clean, however the floors where putrid, definitely not cleaned before we arrived.
The spa bath didn't work. There where a number of lights that didn't work either.
The biggest downfall is the big dog that barks at you sitting at the main reception desk, when you arrive and leave the main reception, and the barking echo's throughout the hotel, waking our young child's midday sleep on multiple days, but also it runs around the pool area making my young children very uneasy. And my wife being allergic to dogs could not use the pool area or go through reception because of the stench of the dog.
Not to mention it states in the hotel rules, animals are not permitted on the premisses as a rule by the body corporate, very dissatisfied. Should be advertised that there is a resident dog.
We also had a complaint about the parking as each room number has an allocated numbered parking spot, and kept finding out spot was taken, but our complaint was met with attitude and an unwillingness to address the issue. Overall the rooms are okay, but nowhere near as good as the photos, location is great, only a short walk from town and across the road from the beach. Thanks for the stay but I wouldn't stay here again or recommend if your not a dog lover.
Great location. Lovely staff. Large rooms and very close to beach 👍👍
Great location, near the town and beach. Lovely, friendly staff. We stayed in the 3 bedroom apartment was very spacious, plenty of room for families.
Great position, quick easy access to the beach. Spacious, well equipped apartments. The heated pool was beautiful and long enough to do laps. A short stroll to all the cafes and shops. Really appreciated the cold water/ice maker fridge and the complimentary fruit platter. Only negatives were the spongy beds and the couch could do with replacing. Would definitely visit again.
We stayed in the 3brm beach front apartment which was quite spacious. Well located - close to but a bit away from the main street, and just across from the beach.
We returned to Mandalay Apartments this week to find they are as brilliant as they were in 2005. The standard of fixtures and fittings have been kept up to date and even improved in lots of areas. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend the apartments to friends and family.
Stayed there for three nights, far too short a time. Lesley our host wad so friendly. Would recommend this place to anyone.
Best place in Australia to stay apartments furnished lovely with lots of space two bedrooms and two bathrooms, all well equipped .Lovely friendly staff nothing too much trouble.
Short stroll to town centre .I will certainly recommend this place and will be returning thanks Mandalay for making our stay such a pleasure.
We had a 7 day stay at Mandalay Port Douglas over Xmas 2013. Our 3 bedroom apartment had all the best features you would expect from a 5 star property. The apartment was spacious and furnished with the latest modern appliances. The beds were extremely comfortable and suitable for taller people!
The pool was large enough to have a proper swim and had comfortable lounges. The beach was on our doorstep which was great for walks and enjoying the tropical life of Port Douglas.
One of the best things going for this property is the staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them! And the manager's dog Milo kept my youngest son entertained for hours.
Close to town, quiet and modern luxury apartments. We will certainly stay there again.
