I'm a bit torn about this place. I like the layout of it and they have decent choice of beers on tap and amazingly well stocked fridge full of interesting craft beers. Problem is this place gets really loud for no reason. When I came last time the place was half empty, music level initially pleasant, really nice place to hangout. Then gradually the DJ who was probably getting bored started to tune the volume up every few minutes to a point where I couldn't even hear my mate sitting next to me. We left shortly after. Never understand what's the point of playing loud music in a place like this where people just want to chat.

We usually go for drinks but your security guy was really rude.. not woth being treated like that! Good luck guys!
**Hi Oli, next time just watch your secuity guy.. i would say in 5 min i spent to try to get in he made walk away 15-20 people.
Been there many times but this time we could not make it pass your high security at 9pm.. Dont worry, Many places in the city to go..response / report this review -

4 of starting our night out we get refused entry and questioned how many drinks we have had then asked ID. Been here many times before and had a great time. The guy on the door tonight (18th Aug 3017) needs replacing.

Very funky bar. Clean and nice with a good selection of alcohol, good bartenders. I've gone in alone and chatted up other patrons and gone in with a friend and been able to find a quiet area to be left alone.

Really nice and chill bar experience with decent value, not a super packed venue which seems to be harder to find deep in the CBD. Not a huge tap or nibbles selection but enjoyable for its size.

Thought I should edit this for 2016, nothing is different: Quite simply my favourite bar in Melbourne. Happy and Smiling door staff, Happy and Smiling Bar staff, awesome art on the walls, reasonable priced drink and always good music, Open till late. What more do you want?
