Really liked it here, the service was great and the food was also really good, not over priced. I thought we night walk out hungry but we didn't and we did not need dessert. Earl grey long island cocktail was great
Great food but dessert was a bit disappointing. The Alaskan Bombe was way too sweet for palette survival. It definitely could do with some tartiness and more bitterness needed for the chocolate sauce.
Food was beautifully crafted with a balance of flavours and generous proportions. Will definitely go again - but may stay away from ordering dessert.
Oh and did I mention the ambience? Friendly staff and a beach side restaurant with a fascinating wine selection - you won't miss anything!
The only thing more delightful than celebrating my three year anniversary was spending it at Donovan’s.
Besides the homely atmosphere and brilliant food, the service both my partner and I experienced was unsurpassed.
I’d like to thank Katrina for her incredible attention, humour and approach. You truly made our night and supplied us with both many laughs and memories.
We came here on our third anniversary and as expected, the food we were served was incredible. What really made our night memorable however was the amazing service we received from Katrina! Definitely a stand out at Donovans!
Excellent service and cuisine. A place to go for a special occasion
Excellent view! The building has a great story behind it too so it's worth going if only just for that.
Service fantastic, don't usually get this quality any more so it's great to see.
Great selection of delicious food and wines. Highly recommend! People seem to dress up to go here so that's worth knowing too.
Absolutely brilliant restaurant that manages to combine fine dining with a child-friendly environment. The staff are lovely and accommodating. The food is incredible. Can not fault Donovans.
worth to go! Beautiful views and great food plus excellent service! Love the old fashion chicken pie and the banana tart is totally my favorite! The whole environment makes u feel like time goes back for years. Romantic and warm place!
I was referred to go to Donovan's from a friend as he swore by it. My first impressions was wow this is a nice venue. At the entrance they have some historic st Kilda sea bath turnstiles which adds that touch of nostalgia. We went on a Tuesday night and it was not overly busy and managed to have a few pre dinner wines by the fire place. Nothing beats the smell and heat from a real open fire place opposed to the gas styles. This set the tone for the remainder of the night. A very homely feel but also a very classy touch. Definitely not a first tinder date spot but somewhere you want to take some one special. We shared the lamb shoulder and highly recommend it.
This place is all class. Great for special occasions. The view is second to none.
Nearly went for four stars, but the cos lettuce was outrageously crispy.
Premium location, atmosphere, service & food. Great for special occasions.
I have just been to Donavans with my family as a thank you to them for having me to stay for 3 months! I am disabled lady with a wheelie over from the UK the staff could not be more helpful and accommerdating and the food was fantastic especially the raspberry wagon wheel desert we also had the best sea view that you could ask for☺
We walked in without a booking on a weekend during lunch time.
Ambience: 4.75/5 because it was very relaxing, yet on a fancier side.
Staff: 5/5 because they were very welcoming and friendly. They explained to my wife and I who are both vegetarian, the vegetarian options they had and what we could expect in the dish. The staff checked on us from time to time just enough that we felt looked after but not bothered.
Food: 4.5/5 because it was very flavoursome. We had the wild mushrooms risotto. It was delicious but very slightly undercooked.
Overall a lovely and warm place that we would surely visit again.
