We were lucky enough to have been booked into the Cambridge Hotel in Sydney through our travel agent following a cruise. Our suite on the 14th floor gave us a wonderful area to relax and unwind. The standard of cleanliness in the living area, bedroom and shower room was perfect. There was a desk, couch, tv arrangement in the living area arranged to enhance the sense of space and there was ample storage space in the bedroom.
The staff were friendly and welcoming, efficient and most helpful during our stay and the personalised chocolate bar presented as we checked out was very touching and made us feel valued. We were not made to feel like strangers at all.
The position of the hotel allowed us easy access to the city and harbour areas giving us an opportunity to walk and enjoy the little coffee bars along the way. Fabulous.
Our biggest complaint was that our time at the Cambridge Hotel was just too short and we hope to have an opportunity to return.

Chaotic but eventually friendly greeting upon checkin. I guess they’re busy. Was issued the wrong room key so had to return to reception where they struggled to find my reservation despite checking in only minutes earlier. In the room the beds and bathroom are clean. Upon closer inspection the shortfalls surface. The main light for the room does not work. The lamps and bathroom lights fortunately do. The airconditioner fails to cool and its vents filled with dust. Looks like it’s never been cleaned. The window sills also covered in dust and a visible stain on the chair. The room was generally quiet which was good. Would consider staying again if hotel management gave the rooms a deep clean and addressed some maintenance issues. What we paid was too expensive for the amenities & experience.

    What a GEM
I have been staying here for the last few years and its the only place I stay in Sydney. The reception staff are always so full of bubbles and they go above and beyond to help you. After a long day at the office you walk in the doors of the hotel and its like walking into your home as your welcomed back with a lovely smile. The reception staff do remember you as a regular guest which most hotels don't these days.

This hotel was a great find! The room was a great size, perfectly clean and modern, spacious bathroom and everything we needed was included. Breakfast was so good, parking was very convenient and reasonably priced and the staff were so friendly and helpful. We will be back :)

Friendly staff, quiet rooms. No designated smoking area, some rooms have balconies which you can smoke on, otherwise the street. Parking available for a fee. Overall quite good.

We loved our stay at the Cambridge hotel. Wonderful staff, Clean room with comfy beds. Great location being walking distance from Central train station and close to cafes and bars. Good value for money too. We will definitely stay there again.

I had a great stay here last week, awesome spot, all staff really friendly, minibar reasonably priced and the room was pretty nice for the cost.

This was unfortunately offset by them holding a pend transaction my security deposit plus the full room cost at the time of checking in. That's all fine and normal..except that I was charged for the room in a separate transaction on checkout. I realised this and was told by 2 or three separate staff over the next SEVEN DAYS until it was resolved, that I had only been charged the $50 security deposit, despite telling them my bank account showing a pending charge for room and deposit.

It was resolved to Paul (managers) credit very fast after he faxed my bank directly.

However I had been charged for the room and that same amount still held (for 7 days), all staff denied the extra amount (over the deposit) was being held, and I still had to wait so long for the FULL amount to come back.

I was really happy with The Cambridge until ringing to check my bank balance on Sunday morning, and nearly a week long wait for this double dip to be resolved after being told it had not happened. A real pity. Try to pay cash perhaps.

Great location and service. Extremely happy about the mattress. Most comfy bed I've ever slept in. They have an iron and an ironing board in the room - very unexpected but useful. Great stay so far.

Good central location, friendly staff who make it their business to help you where they can. Rooms are large and have small kitchenette areas. Good base camp for the city adventures.

Great location and posh, kitschy decor. Rooms are comfortable and surprisingly well sized and equipped considering you're in the middle of everything. Staff is fantastically friendly accommodating. Noise from hallways does make its way into the room pretty easily. The pool and spa are OK, both the same temperature and the pool only 1.3 meters deep, but it's salt.

Room was comfortable, sufficient space and well provisioned. Soundproofing not good - there was a disturbance late at night, and corridors not very wide for suitcases when the linen trolley and three staff are occupying the space. Also they would not serve me breakfast as the concierge had written the wrong date - I had to go to the desk myself to sort this out. I think catering staff should have the authority/initiative to assist the customer.

I have been a regular guest for many years and the facilities and service continues to improve. I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else whilst visiting Sydney. I highly recommend this Hotel. The central location is also very convenient.
