This is the only budget accom in Cairns we ever stay at, she hits a sweet spot between price, location, atmosphere and facilities. The staff are always ready to help however possible, theres plenty of parking and everything in cairns is still only a 5min walk away. Not to mention that Rainbow Resort charm ;) and when the pool side bar is open it can be a blast as well.

This hotel advertised on a popular booking site that the room for $67 was previously $400. I thought that’s a great deal. When you get there it is a budget room. When asked to explain they didn’t know. Couldn’t reverse the deal. Had to stay. Dodgy as..

Not even worth the one star I have to give it. Got an apartment as there was meant to be 4 of us. Only air conditioning was in the bedrooms therefore the loungeroom and kitchen were hot. There was hair left in the bathroom and mould growing in all the corners of the bathroom. No plug to use the bath. Microwave had been left dirty. The bed was from the 70's and was the most uncomfortable bed to stay in. Went and brought our own cleaning products to be able to stay the night. Restaurant and bar were both closed. Had paid for 2 nights but left after 1. Would never recommend this place for anyone.

I will stay anywhere else in Cairns but never again at Rainbow Resort. It's not so much the stained sheets or the peeling paint and crunchy matress but both times I have stayed here the young tourists have after party from 10pm to 3am with no sign of stopping, very loud, no sleep. I'm off to try and sleep in the car. It's not cheap if it's not right!

Disappointed we were in one room and next door people partied till after 2am then up and at it again at 5am 😡 the rooms were NOT clean disgusting actually I would never recommend this place the cleaner needs to be sacked the restaurant was not open the who time we were there. The location and pool were good but didnt make up for the cockroaches in our room this would be a great place with a makor clean, paint and furniture and descent shower screen these ones you cant close and end up with water everywhere 😡

Clean and tidy appearance, well presented and well looked after with its own bar and restaurant. Also allocates its own outdoors swimming pool and adjoining spa, as well as supplying its very own guest laundry. Within walking distance to City Central.

We knew we were making a cheap booking. What we didn’t know was the place has a reputation for prostitution (they actually changed their name to sidestep it). Our first night we were woken at 2.30am by detectives at our door regarding an incident in the complex’s pool earlier that evening, definitely set the mood for our stay. For what you pay it’s what you get. A bed and a shower, very different to what their website depicts. Cannot fault their customer service though. The ladies working there were very friendly. Shame the place they work isn’t nicer.

We were attracted by the competitive price and the location but once we opened the door we understood the price. The rooms were dirty and old. The service was beyond unacceptable. We found several cockroach in the room (even in our bed) and the answer of the person in charge was: "it is the tropic so it is normal". Well it is clearly not the case in other places in Cairns. If you do not like chasing cockroach every night avoid this place.

Not even worth the 1 star I can give it.
There was an attempted break in of our room in the early hours of the morning. Someone opened the door very quietly (luckily I'm a light sleeper) I woke up my partner and told him that someone just opened our door, he said they couldn't because he had locked it! Clearly the lock was faulty! We could see under the curtain the door just open a bit and someone's shoes.
I'm guessing after whoever opened our door gave it enough time to see if it had woken us up decided to then actually try and get in the room, luckily we had the chain on but they decided to try and get the chain off! Me and my partner started yelling and we both jumped up to the curtain and by the time we drew back the curtain whoever it was had ran away - we were both too shaken to open the door and look out just in case someone did try and force their way into our room.
We didn't get much sleep for the rest of the night. I emailed the front desk letting them know that we would be calling the police if it happened again as well as discussing the incident in the morning.

Upon check out the lady explained to us that they had CCTV but it wasn't actually facing the doors so they couldn't see who did it. However there were three people around at that time, one guy was KNOWN TO THEM!! Apparently he caused a 'nuisance' to other guests sometimes but because he hasn't actually done anything illegal there is nothing they can do except pass on a report to the police! Me and my partner were pretty shocked at this - if a 'nuisance' means attempting to break into people's rooms then that's pretty big. Also he may not have done anything illegal yet because he hasn't actually been able to get into to a room YET!!!
The other two were drunk girls just heading to their room after a night out, were sure it wasn't them. The way the door was opened and the quiet way the chain was tried to be removed was not the way two drunk girls after a night out would be getting into a room!
The whole incident has shaken us so much that we have cut our holiday short.

On top of this the room was disgusting, mould everywhere, ants crawling about, filthy floors, rusty fridge, filth around the mattress and the toilet and tap ran all night loudly.
    Honestly the list is endless.

We only stayed here as a 1 night stop over and needed something cheap and cheerful - you get what you pay for! We're use to staying in budget hostels/motels etc, never have we experienced this. If you value your safety I would pay more and stay somewhere else, it's the worst place we have ever stayed.

Nice enough for the price, free Wi-Fi which was a bonus. Unfortunately always seemed to have a sea salt sticky feeling on the floor though.

Pay for what you get. Staff are rude and very unhelpful. Wouldn't recommend to anyone visiting Cairns. Pay about the same down the road at Cairns City Sheridan and the staff are lovely.

The staff here are very nice. The rooms are spacious but the A/C doesn't quite get the job done. However, that's OK because there are very efficient fans in each room. The pool is awesome, concrete with a waterfall and jacuzzi. Would recommend this place to anyone looking stay in Cairns who does not mind staying. A bit away from the ocean front.
