  Really nice pub. Great food and service. Dog friendly beer garden! Staff are accommodating and friendly.

  Beautiful hotel, both inside and out, reasonable drink prices. Great for a couple of drinks and functions alike. Allows smoking at back of beer garden.

  Gorgeous room with lots of nooks and crannies to discover. The food is generous in portion and a step up from your typical pub fare but still quite not at the level of gastropub. The duck I had was delightful but the lentils it came with were far too sweet. The beer selection is pretty typical. Though not inspired, you can still find a good pint or two.

  Quality local. Great old building. Great traditional front bar, nice beer garden, nice wine bar as well. As far as locals go it's fantastic. Only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is due to the gambling facilities at front bar. Do away with that and it gets 5.
  
  Another star is lost for one unnecessary addition in which I've described below.
  
  I am also dissapointed to see a Western Bulldogs 2016 premiership poster up on the wall. This contravenes what this pub is about. It's a pub in Hawthorn, it needs to remain consistent with a Hawthorn Hawks theme. There are 13 Hawthorn premiership posters and one solitary Western Bulldog picture. Not consistent. Not right.
  
  That picture belongs in a pub in the west, not amongst 13 Hawthorn premiership posters ranging from 1961-2015. It's out of place and just not to be accepted. I don't even barrack for Hawthorn, but upon noticing this poster I felt disturbed by the Western Bulldog infiltration within the territory of this Eastern institution.
  
  Tradition needs to be acknowledged on this occasion, and that poster needs to go. Send it to a pub in the west where it belongs, not amongst the brown and gold in the east.

  Excellent food and the staff are usually very good, although there's the occasional time that you can't flag anyone down to order food, hence the 4 stars.

  Great beer garden. Sports on TV. Sandpit for the kids. Dog friendly. Great beers at fair prices. Super close to Station. Fantastic all round.
